if they're foggy underneath halfway up like where the natural nail bed would be you don't need to etch them as they're pre-etched for you. you can also pre etch with primer on the under side of the nail just where your nail bed goes...since the drill might be too hard on that length. but yes dehydrator primer & a base gel to protect your natural nails all help with the adhesion process. also careful as the nails are soft gel they may shrink in the lamp

I stopped biting my nails too. Unfortunately, because of all the housework I do, my nails don’t ever stay beautiful for very long. It’ll take me a month to get decent looking nails and then in one day, 4 will break. 🥲But I continue to cut them instead of biting just to keep on top of the habit.

I’ve been biting my nails my entire life and I’m 35. I stopped when I discovered dashing diva nail stickers and then that motivated me to try the gel x system. Seeing how beautiful my nails were when I stopped biting them and having fun learning to do my own nail enhancements and designs changed my life 😂😂.

Yess boo! Licensed Nail tech here to answer your question 😂 if the underneath is already prepped (you can buy like that) they will be matte on the side that you attach to your nail plate. If they aren’t prepped (like the ones you had) you do want to efile the inside with something like a sanding band aka arbor band or a diamond bit, just enough to remove the shine and give it some roughness so the gel holds. Gel doesn’t like to stick to shiny surfaces. I hope this helps and if you’re ever in Orlando I’d loveeee to slay your nails ❤

drill it underneath so it stays on for a few weeks. It really helps me when I do it. It makes my nails stay on longer, so I would just keep it keep filing under it and shaving under it.

Yes you etch (file) underneath the fake nail as well on your natural nail (but for natural nails is better a hand file than a drill) . The adhesion will grab better and last longer. Good job!

Might I suggest you can actually use any top coat for gel x nails! The needle glue recently started having issues with contact dermatitis and allergic reactions, modelones I absolutely suggest and love, and love the nails!!❤❤

I do my own gel x nails. I prep my nails, but instead of filing the underside of the extensions, I use primer to make it sticky. Dehydrate & prime your nails. Cure each individual nail & then go back in and cure your entire hand for 60s. This is what I do & they have lasted me 3 to 4 weeks. Once they’re too outgrown, I just file down & fill with a clear/pink BIAB or hard gel. But never do more than one fill.

First, congrats! It’s so much better than the first time. Yes, etch (aka drill) the underside, even if they say they’re pre-etched still rough it up, because that uneven surface helps it adhere. Also prime & dehydrate to make them last longer. Young Nails Protein Bond is a great primer.

some tips as someone who does gel x, acrylics and dip: wash your hands before and after!! make sure to prep your natural nails. 100% acetone or rubbing alcohol will be your best friend for dehydration. DEHYDRATE NAILS BEFORE APPLYING TIPS!!! make sure there’s no dust on the nails before applying tips as it will cause lifting. 100% acetone soaks off the nails, just make sure to remove the top layer of polish!! hope this helps some :)

Adding any abrasion to a smooth surface will always make it adhere better. So def sand the inside where you’re gonna place it on your real nail. Nothing crazy, just enough to make the surface not smooth =)

Tip: You should never leave your polish bottles near the lamp while curing as over time this will harden and cure the product inside and over time the polishes will become impossible to use x And btw they look so good, you did so well for your second time x

I have never been my nails and then I've always just let them grow but once they get a little bit long they break on me or they split in the corners where I have to clip them. Fun fact- I am never had my nails done professionally, when I was younger I did the press on nails but they damaged my real nails and I did not like that so I just always had my real nails. Some people think it's crazy that I'm 37 years old and I've never had my nails done and I have never had my eyebrows professionally done and I've never worn false lashes or hair which I don't have to with my hair because my hair is all the way down to the top of my butt and thick and curly and I love it! If you chew go for acrylic, but it is difficult. If you want to grow them naturally laminate them witj builder gel. But! It is sof if you can't stop chewing. Hard gel and solid gel can be better. Don't forget cuticul rose oil.❤
