In general, you are right (there are nuances, like on how many channels they put those memory chips 256x2 or 512x1, and how big is an SLC cache). Just had those drives at the same time, and I decided to put them into the same video. Anyway crucial is a better drive, even if patriot would be 500GB one. Its not really a fair comparison , a 256GB SSD will always be slower as a 480 GB one . From todays perspective Patrot is cheaper and BX 500 has changed to QLC with the bigger Drives instead of TLC . I just bought a 2 TB Patriot for just 74 Dollar ( new ) , still TLC . The read speeds will be faster than any HDD . I am not a fan of QLC , write speeds will go down to 50-60 MB with bigger Files = often slower than HDD . Games dont live from fast writing speeds , faster read speeds are way way more important tha write speeds . For older Games the Patriot is good enough .

When you download games from platforms like Steam, the writing speed of your SSD is not fully utilized, as the download speeds are typically way lower than SSD write speed. exellent is that what i write also in my comment ,, i have write speed of 50 Mb on my ssd silicon power A55 on my ps4 , even it more write speed it's useless for ps4 or gaming , bcuz 50 mb speed is more than my connection internet could afford ( 6 MB/S Max ) with my cpl , and 40 MB if ethernet cable is connected , even if the ssd use 50 MB /se speed it's still OK for the write speed , , the bluray copy is 20mb/sec , and the only problem where the ssd could slow is when u move game from external Hdd to SSd , ( write ) it's a bit slower than copy from ssd to hdd ( write 100 MB on Hdd ) , but we not move game everyday , but during playing game i have above 30 or 50 fast loading speed , it"s enough for a console or gaming

It's strange, I've seen different reviews of P210 256 GB, this SSD has different behaviour in different videos. In this video it has cash of 5 GB but its speed drops under 125 mb. In other videos I saw that this SSD had 16, 60, 80GB, but after the cash filled, speed droped under 30 mb.

Who said that patriot is a bad drive can't read the data and see the real world performance. 4K READ 296 (patriot) vs 194 (crucial), 4K threaded 296 vs 194MBs. When you run a game or an application having very small files Patriot will crash Crucial against the wall. I mean look at the score beneath: 382 vs 273. Don't look at copying files. Why would I even care if my SSD is capable of 550MB/s read and 520MB/s write performance if I will never reach these speeds in my typical use? Low 4K random transfer speeds, however, I always use. That is what should interest me first!

Usually, I transfer large video files, and factors such as linear write speed and a substantial SLC cache buffer are crucial to me. However, the selection of an SSD ultimately depends on your specific usage scenario. The drawback of the Patriot SSD is its remarkably small SLC cache buffer. Thank you. In general if you will not fill it to the top, the performance will be more or less the same. As a secondary drive it's not a bad choice. If you are searching for primary SATA SSD, check Crucial MX500 or WD blue, those are not bad and not expensive SSDs with RAM. I'm not using this SSD, it was for old notebook upgrade. @@samplenrack Well, I'm not an expert in NAS, but if you are not willing to use NAS SSD drives ("WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD") then BX500 from those two. Or maybe WD blue? They are not much more expensive. I'm still using spinning HDDs in NAS (WD Red). If you are not transferring large files 60GB+ at once, or your NAS is limited to 1Gbps ethernet, then BX500 or WD Blue will be totally fine.

I see that patriot p210 is really a bad SSD compared to the other ones. But i found a patriot P210 for a really cheap price in my country. I bought it and will switch it with my old 1 TB HDD. In any way, it is gonna be faster than my HDD, isn't it ?

Yes, it will be faster than HDD (depending on the controller used, it may be better than mine). And remember that write speed only matters when installing games, etc. If you download from Steam, it doesn't matter as it's limited by download speed. At that time, several controllers were used on this disk, now I have no idea what they put there on the P210. While the Patriot P210 is definitely not the best SSD, it was actually the cheapest :) SSDs are so cheap now that you can buy a fast nvme for pennies. P200 is a bit faster than BX500. If you need to step up, you need WD Blue, crucial MX500, etc. Something that has RAM cache buffer and SLC cache buffer. On P210 they change the controller (depending on the size of SSD, or maybe depending on what's available in supply) so if you are lucky it might be on pair with P200 or BX500, but it's a lottery. BX is good for a budget gaming PC. P210 is good for office laptops. On P210 you cannot transfer large amounts of data fast. It depends on what you do with your pc if just internet browsing, youtube, etc. Then they both can be used as system disks. Check affiliate links, there are links to cheap faster ones SSDs. For games, I use an external SSD. It has a 10% SLC cache. Actually, some SSDs without a RAM buffer have 30% dynamic SLC cache. Same scenario as yours, I download games from Steam, etc., so my max internet speed is 40MB/s, and the write speed doesn't matter. P210 vs 220 probably has a different controller, though in 210 they used a few types of them.
