My husband converted to Orthodoxy by attending services and by reading St. Ignatius's letters. He told me "All the proof of the ancient Church is in his letters, the Church structure, the Christian way of life, and the Apostolic succession." My husband loves St. Ignatius so much that we named our son after him. Most Holy Saint Ignatius pray to God for us!

Saint Ignatius’s epistles were what first opened my eyes. I remember being raised to believe the so-called Reformation was supposed to be a “return to the early Church, free from the unbiblical, heretical additions Rome added on over the centuries.” Then I see Ignatius talking about things that I was told were those kinds of additions. Real Presence in the Eucharist. Bishops. Not going into schism. So thankful that I decided to actually start read the writings of the early Christians instead of just continuing to blindly accept the narrative that had been fed to me.

dear father Josiah, how sweet and wonderful it is like Saint Ignatius to have tasted of that love beyond comprehension that God gives to those that love Him. The gift of the baptism of the Holy Spirit seasoned with humility is the way to be enthralled in that energy of love and light only then we can face the darkest hours. There is no greater love than someone is willing to lay their life down for another. Pray for us most sweet Panagia.

He is my first ever Saint I learned about the First Church Father I read from and the person who could convinced me personally of Orthodoxy I believe the Holy Spirit worked through him to make me Orthodox and open my heart and mind to the Orthodox way of life. I love him so much that even though he's not my patron saint when I learned that I could have a saint of my family he became the saint of my family and I pray for his intercession that he may turn my family orthodox every single day since I became an Orthodox Christian there may be some days when I forgot to do the prayer which is bad on my part but yeah I love this man so much. Saint Paisios of Mt. Athos...I once asked an American who came to the hut: "What feat have you done as a great nation that you are?" "We went to the moon," he replied. "How far is it?" I ask him. "Say, half a million kilometers," he tells me. "How many millions did you spend, to go to the moon?" "From 1950 until now, he tells me, we've spent rivers of dollars." "Did you go to God?" I ask him. How far away is God?' "God, he tells me, is too far away."" But we, I tell him, go to God with a nut!"

Saint Paisios elder of Mt. Athos, .... -In 1988 he told a group: ― In the Old Testament, for the sins of the people, God had left three generations enslaved in Babylon and then saved and they were freed. Each generation counts twenty-five years. How much is three times twenty-five? ― Seventy-five, they told him. ― In 1917 the Russian revolution took place, plus 75 how much does it make? he asked them. ― 1992, they replied. And immediately Osios changed the subject. Indeed, by 1992 all the totalitarian regimes of Eastern Europe had fallen.

The Greek language has "language" from the Fiery Tongues of Pentecost! The doctrine of our faith no language can convey. That is why God saved and the Old Testament was translated by the Septuagint into the Greek language and the Gospel was written in the Greek language. Saint Paisios of Mt. Athos

@jesh87918 сағат бұрын
Nothing, as it was not an innovation, even in his time. Iconoclasm started with the Muslims.

Icons were used from early on in the Church to teach Christ, His life, and teachings especially because many did not read. The first one of the Theotokos was written by the Apostle and Evangelist Luke.

Only those who the Lord loves first can love him back. Loving the Lord so much is a gift from the Lord. If it is up to man he will choose sin every time. I know I would. Maybe that means that I am just a bad person? Well, I am a bad person, I know this. The good that is in me comes from God. But maybe you are a much better person than me? Where does the good inside you come from? Does it come from yourself and God? So, God only should receive half of the credit, then? I am honestly asking because I do not understand the Orthodox position on sin. Which is not to say that I am completely unfamiliar, I just don't understand it as it does not make sense to me.
@jesh87917 сағат бұрын
Yeah you are still stuck on Original Sin. Orthodox Christians believe the world is corrupted from The Fall, but that human nature is good. God created human. Everything he created was good. Anyways this is a huge theological topic and I can not recommend a bite size video that will do it justice and help you. Look for a video by jay d.-y(e$r (remove special characters) on original sin. 3 hours long. He used to be Calvijist. Or go talk to an Orthodox priest.
