On the premiere, Rob said you won't hear this live. On his live stream on Friday,Rob said he hadn't sung opera for 15 years. Jaw dropping, amazing, there are no words. Austin we knew could sing stage.. But Rob has the most amazing voice. I did the same thing the first time I heard it on the Patreon early release. Each time I watch it,I get chills. And I have watched at least a dozen times. Love your reaction! We knew this group had talent,but the layers and layers of amazing, unbelievable talent just keeps stunning us!

There are no words. I've listened to this so many times I have lost track. It's like I'm dreaming and waiting for Rob to go 'gotcha guys' I Really didn't do that. We knew Austin could sing like this from his version of Bring Him Home but ROB WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! Idt I'll ever listen to Rob singing the same way. I think at the premier we were all in tears I didn't breath through the whole song the first time I listened to it. Great reaction ❤❤❤

Rob's training is evident and he hasn't forgotten a single thing. His vowel placement, phrasing and rich and full tone production makes this an amazing performance. (In my opinion as a voice major, lifelong music teacher and lover of the a cappella goodness we now have available to us from Home Free and Voiceplay.)

WOW!!! I knew Austin had Musical Theatre Background, I didn't know Rob's Singing background, but you can hear that he definitely has Opera in his background, there is a definite difference in the style of both when singing this Famous piece, to me I can hear the Opera/Classical in Rob and the Musical Theatre in Austin, both Phenomenal singers in their own rights, but WOW!!! have them together is just GLORIOUS!!!. Well Done Gentlemen

Rob’s college degree is in vocal performance…basically singing opera for 5 years. He said this is the first time he’s sung opera since he graduated.

In fact the difference we can hear is that Austin is a lyric tenor while Rob is more of a heroic tenor, both categories perfectly acceptable in opera. One of Austin's teachers wanted him to train for opera, rather than musicals.

@@patriciamcl54 While I will agree with you about their individual vocal ranges, Rob being a heroic tenor and Austin a lyric tenor, and that both are perfectly acceptable in opera, I was referring to their technique, I am a classically trained tenor myself, with a similar style to Rob, while for any singer the starting technique is the same, the discipline you decide to go into will require slightly different end results, for Austin with the Musical Theatre sound it has more nasal tones and is placed further forward and closer to your speaking voice so that it can come out more conversational, an Operatic sound is more rounded and can sound fuller, If I was to do a show like Phantom of the Opera I would be going for the more Operatic style, but if I was doing Oklahoma the Musical Theatre voice is more appropriate, both can and do work in both areas but work best in there respected fields, having said all of that I'm not saying one is better than the other, as they are both amazing, you can just hear the difference in their voices that's all I was trying to say

I can honestly say this performance didn't surprise me whatsoever. After hearing the beauty and power of their voices within the context of Home Free it isn't such a big leap to imagine this wonderful performance. I figured it was only a matter of time before one or both of them tackled an operatic selection. They absolutely crushed it! They should be very proud of themselves. I thought the performance was relatable and stunning. These guys' talent and skill is no joke! The Home Fries are the luckiest fans in the world. Where else can you hear the range, variety and versatility that Home Free brings?? Somewhere within the group, you can find something for everyone. Loved your reaction!!

This is the first time I've seen this & it made my eyes "leak" immediately!😢 There are very few opera songs or opera singers that I like but this is my favorite & Rob & Austin did it as great as Pavarotti. Rob looked & sounded like a young, much more handsome Pavarotti! There are just no words to describe this performance other than incredibly beautiful, magnificent perfection! I knew they could do anything & loved Austin singing "Bring Him Home" but they both "brought this home"! I'll have to watch this a million times! Wow. This is insane.This is extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great. But Rob, I'm perplexed. His voice is just magical. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. He will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible..

I usually just appreciate their talent in Home Free, but I'm not really a fan of country music, so it was a real treat to hear Rob especially bring out his classical talent. Austin did well, but Rob makes me feel he should be doing more of this. What a voice! I can't say I was surprised to hear it, I think I had an inkling it was there, but certainly I was delighted to actually have him perform. I was delighted with your reaction too. Thank you so much.

If I had recorded myself reacting to this people would have seen me sit there with my jaw dropped, tears frozen in my eyes, and hair standing everywhere for several minutes after it ended. Literally. After perhaps a minute I became aware of it and I tried my best to close my mouth, but it just wouldn't. I had to wait a good while before listening to it again. Simply magnificent. All the original Home Fries will remember how shy and hesitant Rob was when he took the lead on Colder Weather in their 5th Sing Off performance. So beautiful to watch how confident and amazing now. Home Free has given space for all their members to grow and shine. They can do anything they want.

Not sure that's totally correct. One of the judges was trying to convince the group not to let Rob. Guessing the farthest left since he said Rob had a bit of a rough start. That was nonsense. He was just trying to vindicate himself. He failed.

I knew you would love this!! In the BTS video both Austin and Rob mention they had studied Opera in college. Rob said he studied it for 4 or 5 years. Rob also mentioned that he sang this song to his father on Father's Day. It's obvious, like the rest of us, that while watching/listening to this you are completely mesmerized.

I saw these guys all perform live last week and it was an incredible performance. 2 standing ovations and we didn't want them to stop. They are the complete package live in concert. They are funny and Timi is so quick no heckler has a chance with him. I wish they had done this one but they couldn't do everything in their repertoire. Everyone says Rob doesn't look like a singer but he looks exactly like an Opera singer. Austin is more of a lyrical tenor while Rob is a heroic tenor. It sounds like he is singing lower than usual but it's just his dark tone/timbre. Austin holds up pretty well considering this isn't his forte. Rob is magnificent and I hope he does more Opera. These guys can do any genre. Thanks for the reaction.

I have seen that BTS clip of Rob doing his opera voice too, and I’ve talked to him about, so I knew it was there. But it’s so nice to actually have an operatic performance from him. You get little glimpses of Opera Rob in the Sea Shanty Medley too (especially live). But Austin blew me away, maybe because I didn’t know what to expect. This was just wonderful.

Nessun Dorma is such a well known song, done by great opera singers, it's no wonder Rob was so nervous during the premiere. As soon as they started singing though, there were no doubts as to their immense talent. I knew that Rob had training in many musical styles including opera, but wow! Both of them were amazing and the song brought a tear to my eye, but I will say that in this one Rob is definitely my favourite.

I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.

I heard Rob's opera tenor in one of the HF From The Vault episodes and have been waiting for this performance. I would love to see him perform with some known opera singers. I think your initial reaction is what most people feel about this video, The richness of Rob's tone is profound and Austin, with his high notes, is right up there with some of the other songs he has sung on his own. Breathtaking. You can tell Rob was experienced and a bit more at ease than Austin was but they did such a wonderful job. I think Rob tends to be under appreciated. Just goes to show that you can't put people in a box. Home Free has shown they are more than just country singers. With their versatility and talent, they just slid off into another direction.

But you were just as speechless as I would expect. I loved hearing what Rob had learned years ago and Austin got him to bring it back out. I've always wanted them to do a duet, but didn't have to be opera! lol. Austin's part really brought me to tears. The emotion that he sings with is always shocking to me how he does that. I watched this when it was first uploaded. Then I watched every reaction to it I could find. I've come back to you at the end of every day since 9/18 because your reaction (by a LARGE margin) was the best! You obviously know this aria from Turandot/Puccini and have probably heard Luciano Pavarotti sing it. I'll tell you something I thought I'd never say - I enjoyed Rob's voice more than Pavarotti's. That is operatically blasphemous!! Austin handled his part very, very well, but Rob just blew my socks off! Your reaction was/is/will always be my favorite! I cried when I first heard it and again when I watched your reaction because I've been listening to Pavarotti since the late 70's and Home Free since 2015 and love them both. Bravo to Rob, Austin and to you Lyle for an awesome reaction!
