I feel so sorry for all the people who don't know Avi and his music ! Avi sang this song once with a choir and I was in love with this already. I was hoping he would release it one day and here it is , even more beautiful !! This is more than music, the song , his soft and smooth voice(s).... it's all so heavenly ! In my opinion is this song one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard( besides "Sage and Stone") ! Btw .. there is an interview with Avi about some of his songs and his mental health awareness. It's a very honest open and interesting interview. I think you would like to see it ( for yourself, becouse it's 30 minutes and the first 5 min. are about coffee, what you can skip) It's called "interview with Avi Kaplan"on the channel of "Sound Vapors" I hope you like it .

I am so taken by his ability to take us to whatever emotion he's feeling. Aside from his soul-touching voice, his musicality and talent to bring us with him into his soul is just amazing. March 27th, I can't wait to see him. If he says anything about the journey or what inspired this song, I'll let you know! So great!

I had a very abusive childhood. I would remove the window screen in my bedroom and sit on the porch roof to cry over the most recent beating. The moon became my escape and my friend. I would watch it through all of its phases and mourn the nights it was not there. This song has touched me deeply. Thank you Avi Kaplan ... perhaps there was a time where the moon also helped you heal. Thank you Lyle for reacting to this gorgeous song and sharing your thoughts.

The first time I met Avi was at the high school in Montgomery Tx. He sang this song with the choir kids there. Said at that time he did not know if he would release it. So glad he did. He joked that the sun gets all the attention so he wrote this one about the moon.

Thanks again for another great reaction Pat. I put my headphones on and listened to this new song, then I listened again. I relaxed against my pillow with my eyes closed and the music sounded like waves that looked very calm with a full moon rising in the distance. As the song progressed with Avi's other background vocals the waves began to quietly swell along with his voice until I felt like I was there with Avi's deep voice causing these huge massive waves to continue to swell slowly, quietly, washing over and around me with that full moon above. The song finished and my face was wet. That was very strange bc I don't like the sound of the ocean at night. Thank God for our Avi, he has done it again!

At fifty, I just started to learn about music theory, in an extended learning class (ie night school), and this is my first analysis. One thing that is great is his music scraping, that is how he paints the lyrics with the music. Everything moves in this son. He NEVER rests, never holds onto a not. “Why don’t you stay?”. Its pretty cool.

He is an exceptional artist. The voice and layering takes me through time. It sounds Viking to start with and the tribal through the ages to lay your head down in the full moon of time itself. Loved your reaction through the whole EP. Very soul searching kind of music! There are ballads and there is comfort and a breath of new air to his voice! Ecstatic to say the least! It defiantly is cyclical, and he loves the [moon, peace, whatever?] but as the poster Livu just said, it’s always about the movement of life, the way they come and go, naturally, and it’s not a sadness, though you may long for the person, the moon, the feeling etc.

For me the song seems really introspective. Like he is - in a sense - the full moon, bright and shining. But he knows he'll wane, his light will dim and darkness creep back. He's starting to accept this cycle, but there's a sadness there, a questioning of why he can't just be bright. That's my interpretation at least 😅

I love it 💚🌝 don't come at me, but Full Moon reminded me somehow of "Loving You" from the movie "The Mask of Zorro" 😅 I have spanish/andalusian/middle-eastern feels from it, when I first heard with the choir (not getting the lyrics yet) I imagined a bay at night with old fortress sandstone walls, old ships and palmtrees, all reflecting on the black, moonlit water + I'm wondering what made him choose to use 'he', as in most cultures and folklore the Moon has the feminine and the Sun the masculine attributes. Welp except in German, *Der* Mond & *Die* Sonne - the opposite. Just curiousity ☺️ Love watching these with you Pat 🤟 Oh and happy leap day 😁

I love the words to this song, but IMO, it's a shame to take such a beautiful voice and cover it up with all that reverb and electronic fudging. It's the same thing I felt when I heard Kirstie's ep songs, which I also thought were over-produced. Maybe it's like you said, if I listen to this a few times I'll feel differently. I am going to see Avi live in a couple of weeks, and I'm just hoping his music is more pure and clear at the concert.
@Lookinforrealmusic4 жыл бұрын
I have been reading and listening to all the interviews that came out with his signing release yesterday. The one thing that stands out so clearly is that he hears this music and then does his his best to reproduce what he hears in his head. I don't think he is all that concerned with showcasing his voice. It's all about the composition. You will hear his voice clear as a whistle in concert. It's a very different thing from these releases. He is so full of music it is simply unreal. The @@SoundVapors review was so in depth it really shows where Avi is coming from
@tanyanguyen37044 жыл бұрын
He is not looking for style, like Kirsten. This is more about music and using his voice(s) to make a particular feeling. He isn’t a voice, he’s a song writer, and his interpretation of full moon is faded, moving away, even mysterious.

RLH CAT - it likely does. He’s really happy with it. He isn’t happy just singing, just bing an accapella voice. He wants you to see his music as music. I’m never sure what someone means by over produced. Could you help me understand what you mean? Specific examples. Not trying to bash, by the way, legitimately curious.
