Its not even that bad of a game, sure the Marcus stuff and Leeches are a bit much, but otherwise its a fine game pretty similar to REmake barring some relatively irrelevant design choices such as no item boxes. Yeah sometimes picking items off the floor is a pain, but don't put them all in one spot, otherwise its the same thing as an item box for a specific room. Oh well, to each their own.

HBCake I first played REmake back in 2015 when it was released on the PS4. I had quite a bit of fun with it. When they put 0 on there soon after I bought it day one. Not gonna lie, even back then, I had this feeling of not enjoying it as much as I did REmake and watching this play through is making me see why. There’s a certain level of polish in REmake that just feels absent from this installment. Sure we could say that this game is “fine”, but its nowhere near the level of quality that it’s predecessor was. This feels especially apparent if you’ve watched the entire marathon thus far.

I feel like RE0 is the start of when they started to go full-out slime monsters, such as the leech man, and have just been going that route for almost all of their future games - RE5 has Uroborus - RE Revelations has monsters emerging from literal puddles of slime - RE6 has the C-Virus, which most of the monsters are goop - RE7 has the mold, which is also just goop the over-obsession of the Regenerator to the point where they had multiple enemies designed 'like' regenerators is also grating

Apparently the stated reason that there's no item boxes was to make the game like Sweet Home. Which, y'know, RE was heavily influenced by to begin with. So almost every RE could've been like this.

The argument of item box good is mute when I as a 14 year old playing both REmake and zero for the first time had no issues with either games mechanics because if you're a thinking, functioning human being you'd know to simply place all fucking extra items in the main hall of the mansion as it's dead center to any area you plan to go to. Is REmakes item box better? Debatable. Why? Because you have double the space in this due to both protagonists being present for 99% of the game. So as long as you don't greed out you'll be fine. Also I have no clue who told Pat to use Rebecca as a pack mule only, but holyshit having 2 people shoot is better than just "Let Billy do it all." In all honesty if he hates these games ( Zero and Veronica ) so much I'm curious to here him on the actual crapfest that is 6. The only issue I had with Veronica was Steve. Every other issue Pat had with it was fucking stupid.

Another late reply but rewatching this old VOD jesus Christ RE0 is dull. I swear half of this playthrough item management. Part of it is Pat mindgoblins, but it's also just a poorly implemented idea. It can be so much worse if you are playing 0 for the first time, since you can leave behind an item that the game suddenly decides you need. So you have to run back to grab it. Which can be halfway across the map. Fucking hookshot. Hate that thing. I'm surprised how many people in this comment section defend this system. I thought it was pretty universal loathed by fans.

@@JillLulamoon another late reply: I decided to start my own RE marathon with the reveal of 4 remake and Village DLC and chose to start here. I had fond childhood memories of playing Zero on the gamecube back in the day and I would include it among the "good" RE games. I even did all the extra content, unlocking infinite ammo, costumes, all that jazz. I hadn't touched this game since then so my impression of it was always fondly positive. Definitely curious as to how the game held up after so many years. I can now confirm that OH BOY THIS GAME FUCKING SUCKS! Idk what kind of copium everyone in the comments was huffing 2 years ago but this game is probably the most frustrating RE to play, and yes, over 6. 6 is just kind of boring to play at points but has fun movement mechanics to spice up the action gameplay. This is actively a chore to put up with. It's so hard to get into that RE flow of planning ahead when you're constantly fighting the game's mechanics. Couple that with some of the worst enemy design in the series, the absolute worst boss fight they've ever done (I never got to finish CVX so idk how bad Alexia actually is), and just an embarrassment of an inventory system for a series that practically mastered this aspect, Zero is quickly becoming my least favorite entry next to CVX, which on 2 separate occasions I've been soft-locked out of finishing the game so I've never actually experienced the last quarter of that game. I almost had a stroke reading comments defending this piece of shit, accusing Pat of playing bad. I share his experience in that at a certain point your brain just turns to mush the more you play. He really nails it on the head when he says it feels like nobody play-tested this

You can knife CVX Tyrant. The knife in Code Veronica is OP and can get multiple hits in one slash. I understand most people wouldn't think to do that, but he can be beaten with no ammo. Heck, I use the knife in Code Veronica often to knock zombies down with leg slashes in order to save ammo.

You know what? This game would have been better if it was more like the Outbreak games, where there was more than one weapon... for example, there being multiple handguns, shotguns, etc that are in the game. Makes item management a lot less tedious, and also could remove the need to have 'elevators' that connect to impossible spaces. Be also nice if you removed the two-space item hogs such as said shotgun and the grenade launcher, turn it into one slot each.

So check it. Looked online and I think I have an understanding of the geography. Bravo team crashes on the east side of the spencer estate and travels north, finds the MP vehicle then the Ecliptic Express past that. The Express runs west past the Spencer Estate to the Training Facility. The Training Facility is on a cliff and you take the cable car down to the water place (Factory?) which is connected to Nest. You had to take a cable car from Raccoon to Nest, which could have been north of Raccoon, west of the Spencer Estate, and basically under the Training Facility/ Water Plant. The lift you take at the end does have horizontal movement, but takes you cliffside back east toward the Estate

I never played ANY Resident Evil game because I hated the inventory system so much (even in the games with a "good" one)/ I mean I liked my RPG games to have infinite or near infinite storage and the difficulty curve in this game was dealing with not having that. Which was something I totally disliked. So now years later watching Pat suffer through the RE game with the WORST inventory system imaginable is actually kind of cathartic.

I'm not saying the game should let you carry 99999999 herbs, but it's be nice if you could carry a shotgun, a handgun, the crank, the knife, and some ammo for the weapons without losing your mind trying to decide what is needed more. Sure on your 10th or so play through you KNOW what to take and where but when you first start its annoying and I didn't care for it so I stopped playing.

16 in hex is 10. F is 15. If F was 16, you wouldn't have 0s in hex and one hex digit wouldn't convert nicely into four in binary.
