He was just sent there to find Ashley, not do the whole thing by himself because they knew they had a traitor in their own government and had to keep the operation as small as possible so that's why they didn't send a special ops team. Remember he then literally couldn't call for backup due to jamming and his pilot only responded (and died) in the last hour or so of the game. It's an absurd story in many ways, but they did cover that. Mike is also the SECOND helicopter they sent, Hunnigan says their pickup was shot down, it was a mission gone wrong.

And even so, once he found Ashley in the church especially given how many enemies there are they should have flown in far more people to help Leon. His signal doesn't get jammed until he's well into the castle. It's completely absurd that the military didn't come in as soon as they knew for sure Ashley was here. Which is what this comment chain is about. The absurd videogamy stuff in this game.

I mean it would be a shitty thing to send her back and she ends up exploding on the plane for instance. Honestly really they could have just kidnapped anybody really, I mean they did manage to kidnap the President's Daughter pretty easily without any witnesses it seems. I'm sure they had contingency plans to some extent. But this is also RE where Wesker's plan was to die in order for a virus to take effect and he was an aviator dress shirt wearing scientist. Birkin whose bright plan is to inject himself with the G-Virus, and all sorts of just general wacky stuff.

I always sell the shotgun as soon as possible. I realized pretty quickly that the shotgun is both an extreme space waster in both the gun itself and the ammunition, and unlike many other weapons struggles to maintain a relatively high ammo count. For the Red9, TMP, and Bolt-Action Rifle that I often have as my primaries, I also have around 50-150 rifle ammo and 1000-1200 TMP ammo by the time I reach the military island, and the handgun varies between 50-350 depending upon how much I use the other two, which I do a good amount with the added element of trying to never reload and using the capacity upgrade to reduce ammo cost. I do fairly excellent without the shotgun and always struggle with inventory space rather than ammunition amount, which is always a plus for me. The shotgun never did it for me. Unfortunately can't really increase the Minethrower ammunition all that high, but I often get it whenever I feel like getting enhanced hand grenades, but I always get the Revolver.

3:17:30 I wish that you could just use the TMP instead of the handgun... but something weird happens, thanks to the somewhat... iffy, RNG settings for ammunition. And I've tested this. If you just have the handgun, all of your ammunition that you pick up from enemies randomly will be handgun ammo. They won't drop any other ammo, and the only non-handgun ammo you find in the overworld are the set items. If you get any other weapon WITH the handgun, then every weapon type will cause the RNG to add in their ammo to be generated. Shotgun spawns shells, Revolver spawns magnums, etc. IF the player gets any other weapon and sells the handgun, such as a shotgun, shotgun and rifle, or rifle set-up... the RNG makes it so that you continue to get that weapons ammo, alongside handgun ammo. IF you get the TMP, however, that's a whole other story... because if you carry the TMP, with no Handgun, then the only ammo that is spawned is the Handgun Ammo, and you will never get RNG spawns of the TMP ammo. I tried this a few times, and the results are the same. I'm not sure if its because the TMP was suppose to previously use handgun ammo, since I'm pretty sure the TMP actually uses the same ammo is your handguns IRL and they just never thought of changing it, or if the dev team (despite pushing the TMP in... a lot of cutscenes) didn't want the player to make use of the TMP as a replacement for the Handgun. Either way, the TMP is the only one of the alternative weapons that struggles with a weapon-only run. Shotgun and Rifle still function fine.

various sources say that if you carry 70+ handgun ammo then it stops randomly spawning such as if you sold the base handgun

@@DarkPlague20 If you carry other weapons, once the handgun and other weapons reach the 'ammo limit', such as the shotgun or TMP, then after all weapons hit their ammo limit does rng-ammo drops continue to be handguns ad-infinum until the other ammunition has been dispensed.

Fun fact there is a wet blouse version of Hunnigan in the game files that never gets used. Also Leon's hands might be shaking because that's realistic. The slightest shake in your hands results in massive deviations due to the short distance between the point of rotation and the end of the barrel. Holding pistol at arms length and tensing your muscles to control recoil results in shaking.
