With Mewtwo X becomes more of a allrounder, with massive physical imrpovements, but it turns him in a position where he is decent in most situations but not really good. Mewtwo Y just takes the thing Mewtwo is good at and improves it, making X not really necessary, but can be a backup plan in specific situations. At least both forms look good i think

Mega Mewtwo really just needs an overhaul because its not that the stats are bad whatsoever but like it suffers from the exact same thing that physical electric types struggle from and that's not having a strong stab move to click here. Not to mention Psychic is soo extremely bad now make it a Ghost and Fighting type considering Mewtwo spams Shadow Ball more than any psychic move might as well make it a Ghost and Fighting is fine. Then give it a broken ability to match Mega Rayquaza and give it a good setup move Victory Dance would be perfect here. Mewtwo Y needs more speed and bulk and give it Psychic Surge and it'll get way better if Mew can learn Genesis Supernova to setup Psychic Terrain than Mewtwo should have Psychic Surge as an ability. Of course you can go the really simple route and just give Mewtwo back its 154 special defense and access to Gen 1 Amnesia and that would be a VERY different story on its viability. A lot of people call Mewtwo really bad but saying a pokemon with 130 speed and 154 special attack bad is really disgusting behaviour. Its really that powercreep has gotten absurd.

Absol was my main mega my first playthrough of X back in the day. Because you’re only other options I believe before post game was a Kanto starter, Blaziken, or Alakazam. So I grew really attacked to it

41:17 Just for context a tortoise is strictly a land based creature, they only have legs and are generally a bit smaller but thick and bulky. A turtle is a land and sea based creature and instead of legs like a tortoises it basically has flippers, and is larger in size but has a slender more lighter build. I honestly expected Mega Abomasnow to be on this list. It's got the worst typing in the game and becomes even slower when it mega evolves. Evem with the extra bulk it gets when it's weak to pretty much everything single Pokémon in the game the only thing you can really do is come in set up hail and die. A Gale wings Talonflame with Brave Bird could rinse it. 😅

Some changes that I think could have happened with Mega Garchomp would be to instead spread those 40 extra base points from Sp. Atk to both defenses or speed, retain Sand Veil/Rush, or even gain a completely new ability like Kangaskhan Something like Rough Scales, which would act as Rough Skin but also applies an extra portion of damage when he attacks (would not be as strong as Parental Bond bc it has a defensive factor)

At least these Megas feel really powerful against the regular CPUs that you encounter when playing the game normally so there is a high chance that if you do use mega alakazam for example that the CPU Trainer will not have sucker punch and CPUs are kinda dumb so even if they do they might not use it

If you want to stretch the definition, technically salamence and tyranitar got a mega and alternate form in paradox mons based off of them. In a Kalos game they should really add Kalos mons as megas (my opinion), and you can't leave out the region's pseudo imo.
