I favored Zamazenta's design from the beginning and was disappointed by how overshadowed it was by Zacian (especially in its usefulness) ever since. Body Press was so necessary for it.

It would not be the same tier as Zacian in gen 8 vgc, because that has Dynamax and standard zamazenta wouldn't be able to deal with it as well and it's still not as crazy as 170 +1 attack. But it will be good. For singles I still can't imagine how it will affect the bug 3 of ubers.

It's a good counter to zacian though, and run it with some sort of rage powder/ follow me mons, and you probably sweep

I know that 170 attack for Zacian sounds insane, but when you consider that Calyrex Ice has 165 attack and can hold clear amulet, I don't think it would have been that overpowered in this format especially with the Intrepid Sword nerf.

I can’t imagine why Zamazenta wouldn’t have gotten Body Press in Gen 8. I can only assume they thought it would be too broken, but they had no problem making Zacian, Urshifu, and the Calyrex riders in the same generation.

Pelipper is popular atm because it can replace the weather if their restricted is Groudon or Koraidon (or I guess snow but that's a lot rarer now). It also has Wide Guard which is super nice for the mentioned spam of spread moves from restricteds

Pelipper is literally budget Kyogre, who’s here mainly as a counter to Groudon/Koraidon. Sun is super good right now, not only does it help those two but the Scarlet paradox Pokemon like Flutter Mane can run items without losing their ability. It also helps Incineroar and other fire types as the attack boost is actually really good. But rain not only removes the sun, but specifically counters many things good in sun like fire types and the sun duo. Pelipper is simply the best rain option that doesn’t take your legend

Btw those usage stats are for day 2 of the tournament, meaning the top 32 players. When kyogre, groudon zacian have 3.1% usage rate it means that only 1 player was using them.

I loved Zamazenta before it was good. I just love the design because a shield as a mane is much less clumsy than a sword in its mouth. Did you ever try to fight with a sword in your mouth? Doesn't matter how strong your jaw is, you won't be able to fight someone.

It is complicated because while it has gotten better in vgc and even in smogon doubles ubers(tier 2 alongside Zacian), in singles it has fallen to the unofficial tier ubers uu due to a lack of viability. Also, another important thing mythicals can't be used in doubles is that arceus is tier 1 in doubles alongside calyrex shadow rider, miraidon, and koraidon whixh is kinda just neat to me. The difference between smogon doubles ubers and vgc is that 1 there are whole teams, and 2 there are no limits to restricted mons besides certain strategies so Zamazenta is just GOOD in doubles enough to be 2nd to the gen 9 box arts, calyrex shadow rider, and arceus.

Fun fact: Zamazenta-Crowned is so heavy that its Heavy Slam even hits CHIEN-PAO for 120 BP. And Chien-Pao is by no means a lightweight. By comparison, Metagross only hits Chien-Pao for 80 BP.

Another way to properly balance Zamazenta and Zacian. Zacian's ability should increase the atk and sp atk by one stage instead of just atk, and Zamazenta's ability increase the def and sp def by one stage. Obviously Zamazenta gets much more bang for the buck and the sp atk for Zacian doesn't really do anything for it.
