The late pretty and extremely talented singer, actress, dancer, entertainer, and performer Patti Page does the best job ever on this song. This is the first time I have ever seen this classic video. Thank you very much for posting and sharing this!

I've spent the day with her videos. Hadn't seen this one and so many others, because she was so prolific. Hope you read her memoir some time; I wrote it for/with her. She was the best of the 50s, only person to have her own show on three networks. Amazing six decade career.

As a child one of my favorite recordings was her "Doggie in the Window." In a rare film acting role, she was good, perfectly typecast in Elmer Gantry (1960).

The songs were pre-recorded in early stereo and later released on albums by Mercury Records.

The show was done ingeniously. There was no audience. All the music was prerecorded and then she lip synched to it to achieve sound quality not possible at the time with most live studio performances as compared to recording studios. Also the songs were stage individually so they could be arranged into various combinations to create shows. With filming there was the opportunity to reshoot all or parts of songs and edit the shows together (you can see one such dissolve here).

I presume Oldsmobile must’ve been one of this show’s sponsors, since that’s what gets into at the end.

I am happy to present my writings to the “many” out there. Here is one of the finished products in my library of written songs, entitled TRY. At the time of writing this piece, I had in mind the state of mind one has to embrace to start over after experiencing any particular pitfall in life. There’s the need to say “I’m gonna TRY”. The battle might often be hard ...but we have to TRY. ENJOY♥️
