Ale Martinez who has played Maleficent for the last 6 years has just had the privilege of welcoming her first child into the world! As our patrons know all too well, these episodes are shot over the course of several months, and as a result Ale was unable to commit to the scope of "Ancient Relics" part 1 and 2. We couldn't be happier for Ale and her beautiful new family and wish her light, love, and happiness in this exciting new chapter in her life. Okay, since no one's talking about it, I'll talk about it. I love how you characterized Gaston in this episode. Usually, he is so self-centered that people forget how intelligent he is. He is the one who scolds Hans for his stupidity, and he is always the one who notices that the forest is strange because there are no noises. And it makes perfect sense, given that he's a hunter. You totally got his character!

The thing about Gaston is that in the beginning of the film, he's amusing, we laugh at his stupidity, but once Maurice gets captured by the beast and pleads for his help at the tavern, we see that he's actually dangerously clever. He's the one who tries to blackmail Belle into marrying him by sending Maurice into an insane asylum. He's the one who gets the villagers to form a mob to set off to kill the beast. He's the only one who manages not to get attacked by any of the enchanted objects and almost successfully kills the beast. The goofy side drops out the window once the second half of the film starts--except for when he pleads for his life--that's pretty damn funny.

The actor who plays Smee is just 100% perfect for the job! He has the same big cartoony smile, and even when he's not speaking he does a perfect job at the facial expressions and body language. Gods, I just can't get over the fact that this series gets these characters better than disney does any time they reintroduce these characters

This is perfect setup. Maleficent has an item for dealing with shadows, I'm guessing she's likely the ONLY one who's taken pains to see ahead to who might most want to interfere. Now it's essentially Maleficent's significant magical talent against the shadowman himself and Ursula if she decides to try something and frankly my money is on Maleficent. These talismans are the first I'm hearing about and make for an excellent twist. One thing I love is it's been made clear Ursula too has limits to what she can and can't do.

Yeah, she’s taking counter measures against her enemies. She clearly knows what kind of magic they use and took preparations to counter whatever magic shadow man might use her and she probably knows Ursula can’t use her full strength outside of the ocean if Ursula could destroy them all she would’ve already done so

THEORY: With the recap highlighting the Queen questioning if Maleficent has any other motives going on the journey, and Jafar saying he's always had a hard time trusting fairies, WHAT IF assuming they find the cauldron, they bring back Hades, but in the process, they either unintentionally (or Maleficent does it purposely), bring back the Horned King too? Maybe he and Maleficent are related (hence the horns?) though I don't know if that's canon or not. And then he could pose an even bigger threat?

Alrighty, so the Shadow Man has been working with Ursula for awhile if he was helping her after getting brought back from the spirit realm And the powers held by them both are certainly fascinating, especially since it sounds like Ursula wants to become a literal Goddess Plus, seeing Maleficent using her Magic is a delight considering her powers are very under used :)

So if I'm following correctly, Ursula wants the Sundial to go back in time and use the original, unbroken Talisman? And Facilier convinced her that: 1. The villains will likely lose their talisman pieces in the woods 2. They're gonna resurrect Hades if they succeed and secure control of the Sundial beforehand And therefore, Ursula will let Facilier take care of Maleficent's group and in return she will free him from the Other Side? Then ofc Maleficent likely has her own use of the Black Cauldron, not to mention there's no guarantee Hades (if he comes back) will even go along with the Sundial plan anyway. Also, where even is the Sundial presently?

If I remember correctly, Ursula has the sundial. She managed to get it from the Princess Academy before Queen Grimhilde could. It's in her neck of the woods, under the sea. A direct descendent of a god is needed to operate the sundial, so she offered a deal with them, she's a descendant of a god, she can operate it. Yet, the villains are also needed because apparently, there are 10 talismans among them, pieces of a relic needed also to operate the sundial.

Wow, this was definitely worth the wait! I love the fact that Dr Facilier wants to make a deal with Ursula when he's all about making deals with his victims. I also like seeing the interaction between Hook and Smee. I have a theory about Dr Facilier's "friends"on the other side-I think he uses a false image of Elsa to trick Hans who hands him over to Ursula for further manipulation. I can't wait to see part 2!

An unremarked little touch I appreciate is that Facilier conveys how scared he actually is. In the movie, he's terrified of his patrons and with good reason. Now that he's freed, he's got that "never going back to prison," mentality. So terrified of the Other Side coming to claim him again that he now bargains for nothing short of godhood to escape it. But he's pointedly not seeking it for domination or vengeance, but for self-preservation.

Well... I don't know where to start, I'll do my best: 1. Hope that Facilier and Ursula's alliance would be revealed with more detail 2. I'm surprised of Gaston's hunting sense to detect any movement or sound 3. Seems like Cruella was prepared for a holiday 4. I just hope that in the villains' attempt to bring Hades back they don't end bringing the Horned King back as well and he ends having different plans against the Queen and/or Facilier's purpose In short, this episode is making the story getting more exciting

If any of you were wondering what Facilier meant when he said “With only one foot in this world” he means that his shadow is the second half of who the shadow man is so by that sentence he’s stating that his shadow is still trapped in the other side so if Ursula also frees his shadow from the other side then Facilier will be fully freed and If the shadow is freed in the next episode they should give him a voice.
