Ariel Coffin it’s so annoying cause the live action films could be this good perhaps if they paid attention to what people truly loved about the originals and didn’t just use the brand name to sell tickets. People love deep voiced, overly dramatic, affably evil Jafar, we don’t want just a guy who shares his name. These videos do something different with the characters in a truly faithful and entertaining way, live action Disney don’t seem to understand how to do that (and even though they’re remakes, each tries to do something different and fails - not the best example coming, but it’s one that speaks to Disney’s desire to APPEAR like they’re being different by changing something that was already well received and liked in the original into something that is now transparently forced and poorly executed: (See Lindsay Ellis’ beauty and the beast video for a much better explanation) Belle needs to be MORE feminist now, other male executive please tell me how does the feminism stuff work because if we make her more feminist then we can make a big show about how feminist Belle is now, never mind that she was a beloved icon of feminism already, highly strong willed, perfectly defined, well portrayed and was an excellent role model in the original, let’s make the character perform feminism more in blunt inorganic ways so that we can feel very good about ourselves. We could actually look at how to make the character herself more of a feminist role model, perhaps by evening the tally of how many times the beast saves her and vice versa, making it clear in the story that falling in love is a positive change in her life but not all she needs to self actualise and grow or carefully retooling lines of dialogue to make her as well rounded as possible. Nah, that sounds too tricky, she just needs to seem more feminist in a simple way, let’s add an invention subplot that goes nowhere and a teaching-little-girls-to-read subplot that also goes nowhere and doesn’t make sense with the film’s more solid time setting since female literacy was very high at the time and beauty and the beast was written for long girls. There we are, we fixed it). These videos take the depictions of characters we love, recognising what it was that was loved and make new things with them. I’m so excited for the rest of the series. I hear Yzma is going to be in it soon!

Absolutely!! It's amazing to see how much better non-Disney sources are at accurately bringing across the original characters' mannerisms, styles of dress and temperament into live action settings. None of the official remakes have impressed me at ALL with their lack of creativity and yet here on KZbin, there are a plethora of creators making some absolutely hilarious and clever stuff in this space. From Josie to Whitney Avalon, Todrick Hall to Pattycake Productions, and even Ginny Di & her friends... I rewatch all their stuff regularly and enjoy it every time!

I also hope that we could see Tiana fight or something like that. I remember in the movie that Naveen said, "You are a strong armed Princess." Although she wasn't a princess at the time, she was still strong armed as the Prince deecribed her.
