Two games that should have made the list were the 1966 win over Tennessee in Knoxville which was played in the rain: the final score was Alabama 11, Tennessee 10. The unveiling of the wishbone in Los Angeles in 1971 where Alabama defeated USC 17-10 marked the return of Alabama to national prominence. We can't leave those out!

Of course there is no way to rank the biggest wins. Many regular season games get forgotten and older games in the 1960's dim from memory. All of these were big games, but I'd probably add a few for honorable mention that could have made this list: '60 GA Tech, '64 Florida, '66 Tenn, '69 Ole Miss, '72 Tenn, '73 Georgia and LSU, '78 Nebraska, '79 Tenn and LSU, and possibly '82 Penn State. I'm sure lots of others qualify as well.

I guarantee if Coach Bryant had been ranking these games it would NOT of been an all Tide ranking....jes off the top of my head...following the 1950 season..at Kentucky..in the Sugar Bowl...a 13-7 nod over the 1950 national champion Bud Wilkinson's OU Sooners...stopping his then 31 game win streak...1953 at Kentucky..FINALLY beating Tennesee 27-21 i believe for the only time in his 8 seasons therein that ancient border war...and..then HIGH on his list ..his only victory EVER ...over the ole Texas Longhorns 34-21 with the last of the Junction City Boys who finished 10-0-1...And!...i'll even throw in the Bear's first victory as a head coach...Guilford Quakers September 28' 1945 60-6 as Maryland Terrapin's head man😂...6-2-1 was his only season there...first victory over a ranked team?...19-13 over 13th ranked Virginia as the Terps Head Coach...no coach in the totality of his personality and accomplishments...(not even Saban who is great) has surpassed what that ole plowboy from Arkansas meant to college football...and no one i suspect....ever will...he wusn't nuthin' but a winner....as a man..as an example...as a champion.......and i...don' t root for the Tide...i'll die Callin' The Hawgs!

Saban might be the "GOAT" but he'll never be the Bear. Look up composure in the Dictionary, there's a picture of Paul "Bear" Bryant. Surprised Saban hasn't had a stroke. Calm prevails.

Great video! I would choose: 1. 1971 Alabama 17, USC 10 2. 1978 Alabama 14, Penn State 7 3. 1961 Alabama 10, Arkansas 3 4. 1981 Alabama 28, Auburn 17 5. 1965 Alabama 39, Nebraska 28 as my top 5

Question who wins Saban versus Bear
@jlawIII3 жыл бұрын
Both coaches changed the course of college football. Bear won 6 championships in 25 years at Bama. Saban has won 6 in 14 and might win a few more. I say Saban is the greatest ever but the Bear is a very close second.

I do not think you can compare the two. Statistically, Saban has the edge but there are lots of other factors. When Bryant was coaching there was lots of bias in the polls against Alabama ('66 and '77), and I would say Bama had great athletes but won with less talent than Saban has had these past years. Bryant ended up winning 82% of his games and Saban's percentage might slip a little toward the end of his career the way Bowden's did, but both are in the upper echelon of college football.

Two great coaches, two completely different eras. Regionally biased voters during the poll era deprived Alabama of the 1966 and 1977 National Championships; the 1977 team had one of the toughest (maybe THE toughest) schedules in the nation with intersectional matchups against Nebraska at Lincoln, USC in Los Angeles and Washington in Seattle. One of the advantages today is that we have the playoff where it's decided where it should be decided...ON THE FIELD. In what would be the best COACHING matchup ever, I would have to give the nod to Coach Bryant with a line of not more than 3 points. As an Alabama fan that has enjoyed a large portion of the Bryant era and all of the Saban era, I cannot discount the place kicking woes that we suffered during the first half of the Saban era. Coach Bryant strongly believed in the importance of the kicking game and even though I'm very grateful for what Coach Saban and his staffs accomplished in Tuscaloosa, it's my opinion that it took longer than what it should have for it to be straightened out.
