Newton Edward Daniels (6 April 1938 - 17 March 2016), known professionally as Paul Daniels, was an English magician and television presenter. He achieved international fame through his television series The Paul Daniels Magic Show, which ran on the BBC from 1979 to 1994.

Wasn’t expecting this, had to do a double take when I heard you say which crematorium you were at, Paul - then had to do a double take when you walked straight past the plaques of my Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle. I lived a mile up the road from this crematorium as a child. Thanks for giving me a family visit pal, never knew Paul Daniels was cremated there either - will tell the family! New Eddie when l lived near him in South Bank Middlesbrough .l was a teenager when Paul joined the army and around this time he had a girlfriend who lived around the corner from me' he married her later on. He worked at our local council offices and also at his parents grocers shop. He done local magic shows at working men's clubs in and around North East area.And then the rest is history when TV changed his life.

I was in the audience once for the Paul Daniels magic show. Paul was lovely he spoke to the audience as if we were all long list friends. He explained that we could ask him questions between takes and if he couldn't answer them properly he would get someone from the production team to come down and answer. We were told when we wanted to ask him anything we were to call out Paul and our question as he wanted us to understand everything and to be happy and comfortable. He had Hans Mority on and Sheridan Morley who Paul saw sitting on the opposite side if the staircase to me, he was touching distance to me, he asked Sheridan if he would assist him on stage for some close up card magic. Paul was lovely, generous and with a cheeky twinkle about him Paul Daniels is very much missed and no one is a patch on him. I've also seen his son Martin Daniels twice he's good but there's only one Paul Daniels.

I met Paul Daniels here in Cork City ,Ireland ,by chance in a pharmacy in the City Center ,he was here to do a show in the Opera House , i was 8yrs old and completely Star Struck ⭐🤩 , i watched his show every week on tv , my mother couldnt afford to buy tickets to bring me to see his show ,but was fortunate to bump into him by chance , he gave me his autograph ,but back then no instant cameras available to get a photo 😔 either way meeting him was magical and he was so nice ,such a gentleman ❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🧙‍♂️

I'm originally from Middlesbrough, and Paul was one of our prides, along with the likes of Chris Rea, Paul Rogers, lead singer from Free, and a good few others. He truly was an incredible magician and legend. (At one stage, I believe he had a little mobile shop too, that he driven around South Bank!) RIP Paul 🙏

The best part of your videos Paul besides your hard work, is the knowledge you provide for your audience in connection with the subject, it's like a little History lesson about your subjects life. I remember watching him as a kid and used to look in awe at the tricks he use to do, he seemed a really nice man as well. I know his plaque wasn't there but I hope it wasn't a wasted journey for you because we learned a hell of a lot about Mr Paul Daniels. I actually met Paul Daniels when he was in Bath he was there for magic show and we got him to stand in front of his car and he had a top hat on we took a photo of him. I drove the forklift truck on his disappearing camera trick. He used to visit my sister’s shop in Denham. Met him a couple of times and he was always very pleasant and seem to like talking with the general public with no airs and graces.

I absolutely love Paul and Debbie. I watched his show when I was a young girl with my late Grandad and I fell in love with magic and with Paul. Other girls in school were idolising Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue etc... there was me dreaming I was Debbie McGee. I’ve met Paul and Debbie twice and I can say they were absolutely wonderful people and so genuine and kind to me despite me rambling like an absolute fan girl lunatic. I was utterly broken when it was announced he was dying and more so when he passed. I still can’t hear mention of his name without tears prickling my eyes. Thank you for featuring Paul, even if there was sadly no plaque to show us. Xx

Lovely to hear your tribute to Paul Daniel’s. I was a big fan from his early days on TV. He came to our small local theatre to do a show a few years ago and I had the honour of being bought up on stage with him. He did some of his classic routines with me, including the ‘chop cup’ and ‘electric chairs’. It was an evening I will never forget, he was certainly a master of his art.

I hadn't realised that Paul Daniels had been born up in Middlesbrough in Cleveland or Teesside (I think nowadays it's classed as being in North Yorkshire). But I had no idea that he had been born as far North or that his parents were of Welsh descent. You sometimes hear of his widow Debbie McGhee who also doubled as his assistant, she has appeared on chat shows and even a reality TV programme.

I saw him in a Pantomime in Manchester when I was a Brownie back in the 70s. He threw some Mars Bars out into the audience and I caught one. Made me feel so lucky. Thanks for your videos, we all appreciate your effort and you definitely put a lot of that in.

I was born in the same town as Paul and for a short time live in the same suburb too. I remember once driving back from a seaside town near Scarborough when I pulled into a service station and when i went in to pay he to was in there paying for his fuel. I have many memories of watching his shows through the 80s and 90s. Great video buddy and yes, maybe he was messing with your camera.

Mrs H ... Paul lived in the next road from us in Southbank Middlesbrough... My brother went to School with Martin ..... He wasn't famous then..This was the early 70's . I remember seeing him on telly & was gobsmacked cos I was only 6/7 yrs old.. I didn't understand how someone my family knew could be on telly ... At the top of his street was Southbanks football pitch ...

Regardless of whether or not Paul Daniels has a memorial plaque, that's a lovely final resting place. Not only was he a professional magician he was also dedicated to studying the history of conjuring. I know Debbie McGee has been the butt of jokes about why she married Paul Daniels; the love they had for one another was obvious.

Poor Paul….all that way you drove! I’m really sorry you were given the wrong information by the Crem Office…that’s bad of them. Still you had amassed a lot of information and great photos of Paul Daniels, plus it looked to be a beautiful well kept area, so for taking us with you, I send grateful thanks! Have you noticed, but your camera has played up before at another couple of crematoriums…I’m wondering if some spirits are messing about or saying hello!…word will be getting round that you visit with your camera, so you will have reception committees! Lol. I well remember the Wheeltappers and shutters….I can’t think of the comedians name but wearing a cloth cap, lit cigarette in hand so the smoke curled up into his eyes…I think they were all comedians on there, apart from Paul Daniels..gosh that’s going back some years! I met Paul and Debbie in our local pub while we were having a meal, he came over and had a really good chat. He was talking about developing a new magic trick that involved his phone. I’d love to know of that trick was ever finished and used.
