It was 1979, our junior high school dance. She was so beautiful, even though we never danced or touched, I'm not sure you even noticed me. I sang this song to you. Now, 45 years later, things are the same. We have never touched or danced, and you won't remember me if someone asked you, but I still think of you when I hear this song.

Many folks may not realize that he also wrote some incredible songs for other performers, a prime example being the Dan Seals country hit "Bop". Dan passed away less than a year after Paul, so I'd like to think the two longtime friends are sittin' around Heaven with a couple guitars singing away eternity and having a blast.

Meet Me In Montana for Dan and Marie Osmond too. He wrote several of Tanya Tucker’s hit songs later in her career, Love Me Like You Used To, Just Another Love, Down To My Last Teardrop, are a couple. He wrote Lorrie Morgan’s Back In Your Arms Again and Ronnie Milsap’s Turn That Radio On. He wrote and recorded with Marie Osmond You’re Still New To Me. Etc etc

This was American Music Shop. I still have it on VHS. Paul had been shot a few years before and only had one lung that still worked properly and he STILL sang this good. After this clip ends, Paul Overstreet asks Dean Dillon what he wants to sing. Dean shakes his head and laughs and says, "Cain't nobody folluh that!" in his best Texas accent. Priceless. The band for that show included Brent Mason, Mark O'Connor, Harry Stinson, and Glen Worf. A Who's Who of studio pros at the time.

Regardless if you like the song or not, one thing holds true, is that his vocal performance is spot on.
