As a German it makes me so happy that you appreciate rye sourdough an promote it. I've been to the UK many times, and it usually wasn't easy to find.

Its definitely becoming more common now, Aldi and Lidl are making it more common, but it was started by hipster bakeries

I have been to Fortnum & Mason and it still takes my breath away. I would love to have a proper afternoon tea with a pot of Darjeeling and some walnut scones. I enjoyed the bit of history of the afternoon tea and the visit to Clifton house.

I completely agree with keeping all the items for tea the same size! 1 or 2 bites each , packed with flavor is all you need.

The only other chef as charismatic as Paul I’ve watched was the young Jamie Oliver. Hollywood is so comfortable in his skin and handle luxury sets so unpretentiously.

Robina Anstey I made afternoon tea a few weeks ago. I served tea from a teapot, champagne, cakes on my two tier cake stand, scones and sandwiches. Just as a lockdown treat for my husband as he loves a good afternoon tea.

Oh I so love love London, I cant wait to come back. And of course its always a treat to have Afternoon Tea at somewhere special. Last time I was there it was at Harrods have Afternoon tea with Scones .....Yum :)

I was astonished in London how tastless bread may be, in good hotel serving a british tea experiance with italian (!) stuff. Good bread only on the small lokal market. In shop they sell only tost bread, white and taste like paper.

Every so often my mum would make us scotch eggs for school lunch, it was a seriously tasty and very filling lunch, healthy too.

Outside of fish and chips it tastes as if everything has been run through what I call the "flavor extractor" from steak to a carrot it just doesn't have much taste. No wonder they have to pile all those sauces on the tables.

I stay in London for 5 weeks, I only had good food in the high end restaurants but the rest of the places only have either greasy or bland food

Sourdough has been around since leavened bread was invented. All the various types of yeast derive from either sourdough starters or brewing.

The white bread sandwich needs to go on a grill and stay until both sides are brown. A little butter on the grill enhances the flavor. Try it-you will like it.

The notion that British Food is essentially bad was left behind in the 90’s when the food scene there exploded with vibrant creativity during the “Cool Britannia” period. It is indeed one of the great culinary cities of the world.

Google/KZbin a recipe then have a go making em! Practise makes perfect. Then decide if you shld put the Jam or cream on first, after the butter of course! (BJCrm)
