I have been to Fortnum & Mason and it still takes my breath away. I would love to have a proper afternoon tea with a pot of Darjeeling and some walnut scones. I enjoyed the bit of history of the afternoon tea and the visit to Clifton house.

I was astonished in London how tastless bread may be, in good hotel serving a british tea experiance with italian (!) stuff. Good bread only on the small lokal market. In shop they sell only tost bread, white and taste like paper.

Outside of fish and chips it tastes as if everything has been run through what I call the "flavor extractor" from steak to a carrot it just doesn't have much taste. No wonder they have to pile all those sauces on the tables.

Sourdough has been around since leavened bread was invented. All the various types of yeast derive from either sourdough starters or brewing.
