from paulgeremia.org Geremia has built a reputation as a first rate bluesman, songwriter, a "scholar" of early jazz and blues, and one of the best country blues fingerpickers ever with his tools - six and twelve-string guitars, harmonica, piano and a husky soulful voice - and with an innate sense of the humour as well as the drama of the music, he keeps traditional blues fresh and alive with his performances.

I'm an old friend of Paul's from Providence, R.I. I used to see him at The Mouthpiece & The Rhode Island Coffeehouse in the late 60's. One of my first influences as a guitar player. And, he played The Yellow Door in Montreal. A good man and a Great Artist...Thanks... bob

Willie played on the streets of not only Atlanta, but Augusta, Savannah, and Statesboro. He had relatives in Statesboro, but I always heard he was born in Waynesboro, up the road apiece. I know he is buried in the Waynesboro/Thomson area.

Maybe, but I know he has such a guitar. I have seen twice at the Rosendale Cafe in Rosendale NY and he went into great detail about that Stella and how he worked on it. He is a twelve string master regardless of what instrument he is using

In addition to being a master musician and scholar Paul is an excellent Luthier. The 12 string he is playing he assembled himself, putting the 12 string neck on the "Stella body" This is not a task for amateurs as you also have to adjust the bracing. master craftsman as well

Don't know about the luthier part but I was so happy when he visited Jack and me in Chicago in 1970 and made me a bottleneck in our apt. as I watched how he did it. He was certainly a sweetheart.

Um...where was this? Thanks for posting but what is the name of this coffeehouse and where is/was it located and when was this recorded??? You know - The journalism 5 W's? All we get is 1/2 of a W. The last name of the "who"? Anyway...Here's the question - which white guy played this first? Bromberg? McGann? Steve Mann? Frandsen? or ...Geremia? Can we ever know?

No, Statesboro Georgia. McTell was born around the Augusta Georgia area. His mother moved to Statesboro Georgia when Willie was a kid. Did most of his playing in the Atlanta area.
