Harrison’s most underrated and perhaps best rock song with the Beatles in my opinion. Paul does it justice here.

Mark Colburn: Check out the version by Steve Hillage. It's truly amazing. Paul uses a few of Hillage's licks here in his version. The Hillage version's from an album called L. Yes just a big capital " L."
@FeelingShred2 жыл бұрын
Helter Skelter is Paul McCartney on guitar (what drives the song) It's All Too Much as far as I came to learn recent George was playing keyboards, John playing bass and probably Paul McCartney playing guitar (lead) There's this video on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJm2kHpngJiWrJo "Taxman" solo is also Paul McCartney... I believe Beatles fans hate to admit that Paul McCartney was more responsible to the greatness of certain songs than they want to believe. George didn't even play guitar for half of his own songs on the albums? LOL

Nah, I'm a massive Beatles fan...the guitar on Helter us bollocks... elementary anyway...and in my opinion an empty song. Macca was a genius. Lennon was the leader and initial engine room. And he made the Beatles strange

Mesmerizing! I just love Paul's appreciation of songs from his musical past. As a musician, how can you write for the future if you don't know your past. From what I can tell Paul is deeply rooted in the songs that came before. Beatles, Zep, Rush, Clapton etc. Add a fun sense of humor and the ability to blaze new musical trails and you have a pretty cool combo that is, Paul Gilbert!!! WORD!!

The guitar feedback on the intro to "It's All Too Much" was done in May of '67, so it was pre-Hendrix, before he started to go wild with that stuff, since his "Are You Experienced?" album released Dec. 1967 hadn't come out yet. But, now, I don't think I was playing the guitar feedback; as I say, I was playing the organ, so I think that was probably Paul that did that. But it was, like, manufactured, meaning that it wasn't like an accident or anything; it was part of the arrangement.
@bigalexg3 жыл бұрын
wasn't like the Beatles had never heard Hendrix before Are You Experienced. Paul had heard Hendrix a long time before this and was instrumental in getting him on at Monterrey in June of 67. Hendrix hit London in 66.

George Harrison was a underrated guitarist. Eric Clapton (who knows a little about guitar playing) said that George had no ego - he believed the guitar lead should fit the song being played - not the other way around. I'm reminded of this when I listen to most guitar solos - as they bore me to tears.
