Paul went to the Scottish hills for a few hours and came back with Jet !! Taking in ponies, fathers, mothers and saying Linda's dad was strict but really a suffragette in his minds eye. Utterly amazing genius and proof that The Beatles changed us all, then Wings rocked us some more with his hypnotic magic and wee jigs!!

Neil Diamond in open admiration there at the end. Great stuff. I honestly think this is Paul's best band lineup of all. And long too - at least 20+ years together. It's a shame his voice started to break up a little bit in his later years, but setting that aside, purely on a musician basis this band is easily one of the best bands of all time. With big Abe simply killing it on the drums.

In this performance though, the imperfections in his vocals actually add a rawness to the song that really suits it well. In his prime, Macca was the greatest vocalist ever in Pop/Rock imho, with unmatched pitch, phrasing and versatility.

What do you expect ? That Paul McCartney at 77 still has the same voice he had 12 years ago ?? This is due to the so-called vocal cord atrophy. The vocal folds become thinner and therefore no longer vibrate as voluminously. With age, the connective tissue in the body changes - including in the larynx, where the cartilage ossifies and you can no longer coordinate the fine muscles so finely. In general, the vocal tract is no longer so elastic. If the muscles can no longer close the glottis completely, more air escapes without having caused the vocal folds to vibrate. Speaking becomes more strenuous and the sound becomes more constrained. In general, the elderly voice often sounds weak, soft, dull, hoarse, breathy, brittle or shaky.
