One of the many things I admire about Paul McCartney, is his undying passion for music from any age. He has always enjoyed sharing music with young musicians, and holding his own as he plays with them. He wrote a great heavy rock song with the surviving members of Nirvana, after they performed together for Barack Obama. It was awesome! He is as enthusiastic now, as he’s ever been, and I don’t think that will ever change.

This reminds me of a story that my grandpa Harold told me about a cherished good luck charm that he kept with him for the duration of his life, after world war II. While he was in the war, he had a nervous habit of picking up souvenirs and small keepsakes that he found in the ruins of whatever city they happen to be passing through. Most of these keepsakes were tossed back onto the ground before he got home, to be forgotten and lost to history, but one was kept in his pocket all day, everyday for the remainder of his time. At the end of each day, he would take the keepsake out of his pocket and put it on his nightstand, grateful that he was alive to live for the entire day. He grew up quite poor and never had very much money, but as long as he had this in his pocket, he felt fortunate and grateful to be alive.
