It’s not as if London Town isn’t being released because they pressed a new variant of McCartney III. MPL wants to make money, they’re going to release whatever they feel is a good return on investment and Paul wants to release. Just because hardcore McCartney fans like London Town it doesn’t mean it will make money.

We only needed one version and that was the black vinyl. Anyone who bought any of the original coloured versions that came out in 2020 is directly responsible for this new useless release. If fans had refrained at the time, it would have sent the message and Capitol (AND McCartney!) would never have thought of these new coloured anniversary vinyls in the first place!

It’s true. The main reason for this cash grab is that fans continue to demonstrate willingness to spend their money on anything Macca puts out. No one asked for this, and no one would have been disappointed if it had not happened.

At the risk of offending others I think this is just a disgusting plan to wrangle out as much profit as possible. Surely if an artist has some love for their fans and tehir massive support he/she etc would think about putting out material they have been crying out for, for many years. I know if it were me, I would want to thank the fans that have stuck by me for decades with a rerelease of something in the deluxe archives set that are crying out for. If London Town and Back to the Egg come out in 2024 I will be very happy and grateful. I hope Macca's next move is about appreciating his audience and not about gaining even more wealth. For goodness sake it only came out three years ago. The same album made available in eleven different coloured vinyls, plus cd, cassette, and every variation you can think up. Is this the future of captalism gone rife?

I completely agree. This behavior is very typical for McCartney. He has a long history of putting out many variants or very expensive deluxe editions. I don’t believe for a moment this is all record company shenanigans. Paul has final sign off on all of it. He knows what he’s doing. And by the way, Taylor Swift is just as bad. They constantly push to find ways to get fans to spend more and more money. And the easiest way to do that is to recycle and repackage existing material. In Paul’s case, I feel like he’s already put out the most popular albums as archive releases. Die hard fans still want Egg and London, but I think we all know those would not sell as well as yet another Band on the Run reissue. That sucks.

@@TrackXTrack Your words are like gold to me. That is a great point you make about Taylor Swift. I know nothing about her as a singer, but I know she and Pauk colluded together about the release dates of their albums so both had the opportunity of gaining the number one spot. Where is Paul's dignity these days. To employ all those vast marketing ploys alongside colluding with another artist to reach the number one position in truth simply means he did not deserve that prized outcome. Marketing and manipulation got to number one. Not an amazing album worthy of that placement. I quite like McCartney 3 but it did not deserve to go to number one. As for Taylor Swift I simply have no interest in her whatsoever. I am glad we agree too on McCartney being fully aware of everything that goes on under his umbrella MPL. He has always been a control freak and anyone who thinks he would let others make final decisions are naive at best. Have a top Christmas.
