Oh this is so wonderful, especially your being so kind and thoughtful as to not interrupt their moment. What a memory. Her horns sound like she's had enough and needs a long winter's nap, somewhere warm and safe. Godspeed!

I thought for a second that her horn would get stuck in the “on” position again. It’s happened to her a couple of times… once earlier this year and once a year or two ago. 😁

Great images and editing. Very good eye for composition. These are massive ships. It was a good shot showing how these ships turn in a tight area. Guys come up with unique ways of proposing.

What would have been funny/cool is the marriage proposal happening as the Tregurtha sounds the Captain's salute. You know the marriage will be happy when the lake boat approves! 😄
@1Long2Short2 күн бұрын
That would have been cool! Alas, he waited for the Tregurtha to get by before he popped the question. I wish I could’ve saved video of the moment from the canal cam, as that would have been more interesting.

Loved your signature head on shot to open the show. Heard a car alarm going off too. It was a really beautiful piece of work with the marriage proposal for some human interest. If you see Paul ask him about the time he captured a wedding ceremony in progress. This was several years ago so he may not remember. It’s not just about the ships.

Thanks Greg! Yes, I’ve seen Paul’s photos of that wedding. Maybe this couple will get married on the piers too. 🤔 😁

Thought at first glance - the Bayfield was being lowered on the hoist after its' oil change in the first bit of the video! 8^) Congratulations to the bethrothed, on the pier. The Tregurtha was looking majestic as always! Cheers.

Or maybe the Bayfield was sinking into the garden. 😁

From Deb…As a female who likes girly stuff AND B-52s and Great Lakes freighters, I consider that to be a very romantic spot for a proposal. So I’d be inclined to say yes. Hope she did! And oh, the early shot of the Christmas boat with the lift bridge was FAB!

She did say yes! 🙂

Right after the horn blew around 3:45, my continuous glucose monitor beeped a few times in response! It was kinda weird, kinda cute. If you aren't familiar with them, they beep when your blood sugar is high or low.

Never get tired of seeing the queen. Probably one of the hardest working ships on the Great Lakes. I was curious if you would share what camera you use? I have been wanting to get into photography for a while where I'm at (Bay City Mi) we have some ships come in the Saginaw River. I would like to capture them with something besides my camrea phone. Thanks!

I currently use a Nikon Z6 II for video. It’s a mirrorless camera that came out a few years ago. It’s a mid-range model… so not the most expensive.

Just finished this episode Was very impressed with the camera work How close were you Your friend Scott on Vancouver Island Canada 🇨🇦
@1Long2Short2 күн бұрын
Thanks! If you’re asking how close I was to the ship, it passes about 75-100 feet in front of where I was standing. But she was about 1500-2000 feet away when making the turn. I was at full zoom on my lens. If you’re asking how close I was to the couple, I’d say about 150 feet.

@1Long2Short I meant to the ship It seemed really close Thanks for sharing

You can get very close to the action along the canal. I was fully zoomed out when it passed in front of me.
