Another reason I love Begg, talking about his brother John Wimber.

Walking in the Light of Christ Jesus, a walk filled with the Holy Spirit, is a deep deep understanding and knowledge of God. It is written; knowledge of God is the beginning of wisdom. For mans' knowledge on its' own is foolishness. We as Christ filled believers walk in the same Light and understand a common belief. One that luminates the narrow road so we may see where our feet treads and not wander from the Light, being His Word. As in the Gospel of John: In the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God....became flesh! This is Christ eternal. One body with Christ the head. Hope you see what I am conveying. Although distances are far, it is a small world we live in pastor Begg.

Wimber gave you an answer, Brother, but it was an insufficient explanation. May the Church soon be restored in fullness! ("so that the World might know"). grace and peace

How was "God heals, and He's chosen not to heal me" an "insufficient explanation" to Begg, who acknowledges his warranted rebuke here? Quite honest AND sufficient of Wimber, I'd say.

@@robertemanuel7664 It falls short (and, in truth, is a "cop out" answer to a keen/valid question). May the gifts (as given by the Spirit) soon return to the Church in fullness. Charis kai shalom

@@suzanholland I agree the question was indeed valid, but we don't know how much of a healer Wimber claimed to be, nor IF HE himself claimed to actually be one; that Begg asked him such a question, attesting in a sense that Wimber DID claim to be a healer, requires no more than what Wimber gave in reply: GOD heals, and Wimber realized that He chose to not heal him. I don't see any cop-out here. If you want more, then you're probably an attorney and get paid by the hour for rhetoric ad infinitum.

@@robertemanuel7664 Just seeking for the Church to be all that She was/is designed to be. Wimber understood (it seems) that he did NOT have a gift of healing or a special anointing, but if you ask any of the so-called "faith healers" (whether they claim an "anointing" or that they have a "gift of healing") why they cannot and do not heal everyone--or why they don't have the actual ability to heal on demand (i.e. a true gift of healing), they almost always have some "pat answer" like the one Wimber gave Bro. Alistair. They become little more than "Clouds without rain"... In Wimber's case, sure, God is the Healer --but that is insufficient (and John himself knew that!), because "when Christ ascended He gave gifts to men"; gifts that were meant to operate in the Church in an ongoing way ("for the equipping of the Saints until we all reach maturity" and in order to minister to one another). Wimber got a glimpse of this, but didn't go far enough. "God is the same yesterday, today and forever" and in the 70's-80's (with the Vineyard movement etc.), His Spirit was reminding His people of that fact and inviting us back into the fullness of what He intended for His Church ("and greater things will you do because I go to the Father"). May we soon see "the restoration of all things." grace and peace

@@suzanholland I am with you re. the majority of the "faith healers"! They certainly DO always have a "pat answer" - one I hear often is that the subject needing healing "just didn't have enough faith"! I had a guy tell me this even re. Paul, with his "thorn in the flesh"! But I don't see Wimber's answer as "pat" - just an acknowledgment of something beyond whatever or whoever he professed to be, as well as an admission that healing comes from God. Of course, what ELSE could he say - under the foreboding reality of cancer?! As one who has seen many suffer from cancer, I think Wimber was "at the end of his rope." I wonder if when he was healthy and seeing the Father heal many, he was THEN giving all credit and glory to God.
