This entire message (especially around the 40:00 mark) disintegrates under the weight of Acts 16:3, and you can tell Piper knows it
@LuxPodcast2 жыл бұрын
I disagree. In Acts 16 the circumcision would help the Jews accept the gospel. Then in Galatians 2 Paul literally prevented a circumcision that would confuse the brethren as a requisite for salvation.
@safariad2 жыл бұрын
@@LuxPodcast I think the two possible readings are that EITHER Galatians was written before the Jerusalem council or that there was an unrecorded schism between Paul and the other disciples after the Jerusalem council. And I think an early date for Galatians is much more lively

@the gospel coalition - Thanks for this. Please let me ask a question. Pastor John talks about the fact Paul didn't receive any input from the Apostles or any flesh for 3 years. In Acts 9 Ananias prays for him and then the word continues to say in v19 that for some days he was with the disciples. (Is this not flesh?) Then within the next few verses we see how Paul preached and grew in strength. Then in verse 26 it says he went to Jerusalem and in v27 it says Barnabas took him the the Apostles. Reading the scripture it seems like this happens within a few weeks, but is it actually around 3 years like Pastor John describes?

Someone named Ananias, a devout man according to the law, who had a good reputation with all the Jews living there, came and stood by me and said, ‘Brother Saul, regain your sight.’ And in that very hour I looked up and saw him. And he said, ‘The God of our ancestors has appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the words from his mouth, since you will be a witness for him to all people of what you have seen and heard. And now, why are you delaying? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’ “After I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance and saw him telling me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’ “But I said, ‘Lord, they know that in synagogue after synagogue I had those who believed in you imprisoned and beaten. And when the blood of your witness Stephen was being shed, I stood there giving approval and guarding the clothes of those who killed him.’ “He said to me, ‘Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’ ” Acts 22:12-21

Sadly, towards the end of his message he implies that "another gospel" is the gospel that the Catholic church is teaching. Catholic teaching was not in existence then.

I pray for you. Paul is talking about the false teachers...... the teachers that teach that the Torah ..... The writings of Moses ..... is dead. When Paul refers to the “tradition of his fathers” he is referring to the “Oral” Torah ..... those are the Traditions of his father. He is absolutely NOT speaking about the Written Torah.

Hajj of Saint Paul After the conversion of Saint Paul, Umrah went to Arabia for Hajj. Saint Paul said: ἀνῆλθον εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἀποστόλους, ἀπῆλθον εἰς Ἀραβίαν, πάλιν ὑπέστρεψα Translation: When God called me, I did not consult with any man, nor did I go to Jerusalem to meet the apostles before me, but soon I arrived in the land of Arabia, the Bible, Galatians 1:16. After receiving the call of God, people go on pilgrimage.After receiving the call of God, people go on pilgrimage. It is not said without delay, there is no crow. Perhaps Saint Paul went on a hasty pilgrimage to prove his acceptance to Jesus' disciples, Palestinian Christians and Jews, and to purify his heart. Because the custom of purifying oneself and changing one's heart by performing Hajj was also among the Jews. প্রমাণ Evidence of Islamic Ibadat Hajj in the words of Jesus: - "John 4:21 21 Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe me! The time will come when you will not worship God the Father on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem. " Here Jesus is referring to the Hajj in Makkah. There are also hadiths in Sahih Bukhari in support of the Hajj of Christians in Makkah. According to Sahih Bukhari, there was a picture of Maryam AH in the Kaaba {Bukhari: 3351}.Following the footsteps of Saint Paul, Christians also performed Hajj at the Kaaba in the pre-Islamic era. Non-Muslim historians have also mentioned the Hajj of Christians to the Kaaba Marshall G. S. Hodgson's book, The Venture of Islam: Conscience and History in a World Civilization, describes Mecca in the pre-Islamic era. It seems that even Christian Arabs made pilgrimage to the Kabah, at that time, honoring Allah there as God the Creator That is, even the Arab Christians of that time used to perform Hajj in the Kaaba by worshiping Allah as the Creator. {Source: - Marshall G. S. Hodgson, The Venture of Islam: Conscience and History in a World Civilization {Vol 1} University of Chicago Press, p 156

Great exposition! Pervesion to the gospel of Christ is not light it is an insultation to the perfect work of Christ and indeed curse is upon those who devote themselves in distorting the gospel making it no gospel at all but bad news, for once there is a 'plus' to the gospel our freedom in Christ is taken away and we are straightly led to slavery!

Jesus keep the sabbath the mark for God people Ezekiel 20.20...LUKE.4.16........VS......... Sunday law the mark of the BEAST
You aught to say "didn't that sermon strike my heart? Didn't that message exactly relate to my condition? Wasn't it a rebuke that I deserved, a word of reproof or of exhortation? Let me take it to heart that which I have heard and let me not judge the preacher, for he is God's messenger to my soul. I came to church to be judged by God's Word and not to judge God's Word myself" "
