I look at what I carry in my box trays. I’ve slimmed down what I carry using tackle from various brands. This video doesn’t look at my pole floats, I’m doing that in a separate video. Music: Happiness by Bensound.com

Hi Paul, due to having a hernia I’m seriously considering buying the Map seatbox because it is so much lighter. Thank you for the video and for giving details about the shallow trays. I recently bought a Drennan bait box set in the see through case where I now store lots of bits and pieces like you. Although I have the matrix sliding tray in the large size it seems to easier using the small Drennan bait boxes as they seem to fit better on the tray. Most of my recent changes stem from watching your videos so big shout thank for making them.

Thanks for the good feedback. I used to change my Seatbox regularly but have had the MAP a few years now, enhanced by the Seatbox UK custom seat, although I understand the seat now provided with the face lifted MAP boxes is much better. I won’t change box unless I find something better for me that weighs the same or less than the MAP. I do worry about the long term impact on anglers moving and handling boxes of 20kg+ notwithstanding that most use barrows to get to their peg.

Great video Paul, going to sort my box right away and the first thing coming out is the line and hooks I never tie them on the bank 🎣👌

A lot of people carry hooks and line unnecessarily.

Thanks for showing us what’s in your box. Your right sometimes less is more. Good to keep sifting through your stuff so you only carry what you need as bits have a habit of sneaking back in 🙄. Tight lines Pete 👍🎣

Good video once again Paul, I really enjoyed it. It's always nice to have a root through someone else's tackle, because it gives you ideas on what you can do to your own kit to make it lighter, or just get some other gadgets which make life easier on the bank. I think we are all in the same boat as we get a bit older, you don't want to be carrying really heavy Seat Boxes around if you can avoid it. In the end, I made my own. I ended up with a deeper top section and 4 drawers. I did make it with a fold out footplate, but that was just my own preference because it gave me more leg room. The overall weight was 13kg. Keep up the good work mate, I'm looking forward to your next video already.

Thanks for the good feedback. I’m going to try and weigh mine to see what it actually is now.
@paulstacklereviews16953 жыл бұрын
Den, I’ve weighed my box as I now have it (you will see it in the next video this week), it’s just under 14kg (filled side drawer and full winder tray). The two deep side drawers I’ve taken out empty are nearly 4kg, so I was probably around 20kg all in before. There is a lot of weight in the footplate mechanism but I do prefer a sliding footplate. I’m happy where I’ve got to. I do think manufacturers should state empty weights, some are starting to do this, for example Prestons state the new Inception Station is 16.22kg and their Absolute 36 is 18.7kg (empty!) and Matrix now put weights on their website (similar to Prestons).
@FishingwithDen3 жыл бұрын
@@paulstacklereviews1695 Thanks for the quick reply Paul. 6kg of weight difference is a significant amount for anyone to get rid of. I'm sure it will help your back, and as you said, you probably didn't need half the stuff you were carrying anyway. When I made my box, I used the Preston Inception box weight as my target figure, but I wanted more storage than they have within that. As for the footplate, it was just my personal preference to have a folding version, but I suppose, if you asked 10 anglers for their views about anything, you would get a complete variation in responses. I did do a set of videos on the building of my box if you want to have a look. I also had a viewer who used a 3D Printer to modify some of the brackets and other items, so I have now ordered myself one. Who knows what you will be able to 3D print in a few years time. Lol.

Paul, as a matter of interest I have a Preston space station and find this heavy but very stable it seems all boxes these days are heavy and I have lifted most makes when I have been on matches trying to find a light one.as I am retired and have not a lot to do I took all my winders and bits and pieces from my drawers and they weighed 1KG I then put them back in the box and stood on the scales recording 19KG so for me it is not what's in the drawers it's the boxes they make.and they used to say an ASI was heavy.
@paulstacklereviews16953 жыл бұрын
I agree there aren’t many light ones. I’ve taken 2 deep drawers out of mine (together with contents) and that has made a big difference, but no non angler would describe it as light! Clearly a H frame box is lighter as here is no lower frame, I also want a sliding footplate. If I was happy with a folding footplate I’d have a Matchbox, not fashionable but very light (I’ve had one before). I had the Matrix F25 before the H30, which was lighter but not as stable as the H30 and the legs were too close to the box. I think I’ve found a happy medium with only a shallow drawer and tray on my H30, plus the EVA tray I showed in the video resting underneath during transit. I have time on my hands and will try to get a weight of my setup, perhaps I should do a video of my box?

Thought of using a barrow/trolley so you don't have to carry it? I use a Preston Shuttle with my Space Station and it saves my back no end
@paulstacklereviews16953 жыл бұрын
I use a 4 wheel shuttle which is great, but even carrying it a few yards is difficult, I also don’t have great balance so think the slimming down I’ve done has saved a fall/injury.

I’ve weighed my new slimmed down version (filled shallow drawer and full winder tray under the seat), it’s 14kg. When I had the 2 deep drawers in filled I was around 20kg. I’m pleased with my set up now, much more manageable, you’ll see it in the keepnets video I’ll upload this week.

Hi Paul,good video mate,that EVA bag you’ve got all your bits and pieces in ,do you put it on your trolley or in your carryall
@paulstacklereviews16953 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the good feedback. As I’ve slimmed my box down there is loads of room and it sits on the footplate under the box with a bait bag.

Hi Paul could you please tell me what brand are the green pole pots you shown they look like they would be pretty good for drip feeding maggots
@paulstacklereviews16954 ай бұрын
I got them a few years ago from we-products.co.uk when I bought some bungs. I’ve just been on their website and they no longer sell them. The guru pots with the sprinkler lids are good for drip feeding maggots.

Hi Paul, nice videos. Thanks Where do you get your small parts organiser in your side tray? Everything I can see is far too big to fit in a side tray; yours are perfect for bait bands, small swivels etc. Thanks again.
@paulstacklereviews16952 жыл бұрын
The grey inserts in the drawer are made by MAP and on eBay as well as in tackle shops. If you have a different box I’d recommend boxtrays.co.uk who have lots of designs to fit all the major boxes or they can custom make something. I used them when I had a matrix box, excellent fit to help you stay organised.

Hi Paul, rather scary I have just come across you site and we have similar gear and outlook. I purchased the same seat box in order to carry less than my S36 matrix. So i got a smaller trolley i had the Frenzee HGV - Good but big, better if you have a van. I purchased the MAP trolley which i like. Quick to set up , net bags can be stored in the front, clothing at the back. The thing i found super annoying with map box it didn’t sit correctly on a trolley correctly as it doesn’t have a back bar. Preston did an adaption for there trolley for the Preston lite. I had to adapt a small bar from bits in the shed to run between the back legs so it would sit more or less square. Did you have this problem? What is your trolley set up? I spoke to MAP and they realised there was an issue but the design team said it was light enough to carry and they argued back and forth but did not do anything. . I was really annoyed as both were newish additions to the range and it was up to me to sort it out. Thanks for your videos. I have been toying just to take my guru case rather than a holdall could be the way forward when two in the car with all the kit. Kookie

I agree that there is a design fault in boxes like the H30, Matrix f25/p25 and the new XR36 competition in that they are difficult to use with modern barrows without some modifications. I use a Preston shuttle with the inception adapters. On the back legs of my box I have a keepnet arm halfway on each leg which sit perfectly on the arms and support the box level. My video next week about the H30 will show it but I do think that they should have a simple bracket between the back legs. The week after the video is about the trolley and how I load it. MAP have a new product launch later this month and new boxes could be included, I wonder whether they will deal with this issue, especially as you raised it with them.

@@paulstacklereviews1695 Thanks for you reply. I doubt it which is a shame. Like the way you did your topkits which I probably will copy as well as Mossella cart bag but most likely get a few of the inserts. I have bought far too many floats have four trays plus god knows how many in drawers in my study. I made decision to cut down on my gear but occasionally I look at a new seat-box and consider getting a new one but in truth once I’m on the MAP it’s fine and not heavy.
@paulstacklereviews16953 жыл бұрын
I’m always looking at boxes but don’t want to go over the approx 14kg I have now, which limits my options! I am very happy with the H30 especially with the custom seat (I’ve found nearly all tackle manufacturers seats uncomfortable!). To be honest I’m always looking at new tackle. The new Cresta identity holdall has caught my eye, a slightly bigger version of the Guru x case so I could get my full pole and all kits in together.
