Graceland is a great album all the way through. Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes is a great one that includes the group LadySmith Black Mambazo that features prominently on the album.

Another one of Paul's really great songs in Africa is "Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes". He is backed by African musicians and the energy is great.

I believe the sound you thought was a horn is actually a fretless electric base guitar. Very unique sound and an amazing talent to master such an instrument

Paul is a master songwriter. His music is wonderful. "These are the days of miracle and wonder.....don't cry baby, don't cry... ☮💜🎶

The "horn" was the fretless bass - mimicking a trombone. This song is amazing and so ahead of it's time.

I'm interested. In what way was it ahead of its' time?

Great reaction! This entire concert is worth a watch. It took place in Zimbabwe because of apartheid and the cultural boycott in South Africa. Paul Simon's unique lyricism and Bakithi Kumalo' s bass playing stand out here.

Paul Simon is one of the best "song talkers" of all time. There are others such as Paul McCartney and Willie Nelson but Paul seems to "talk in tune".

This is such an uplifting and beautiful song.........Peter Gabriel does an opposite approach to it and you would think you were at a funeral (so Peter ) he even admits it . But "what a listen " ......you should do it .

Paul Simon received lots of criticism for recording the album in South Africa when many other artists were boycotting because of apartheid.
