People get God’s hatred confused with the hatred that the Westboro Baptist Church preaches. We must tell people that they are under God’s wrath, but preach it in love and grace. We must also tell them of God’s grace on the cross. This is the perfect combo that is completely biblical. I absolutely love this sermon.

@KayPerestrello When you recognize God's hatred for sinners, and the enmity that exists between God and sinners apart from Christ, the miracle of God's love for those with whom he gave his Son becomes even more remarkable. It puts into perspective how God when he commands us to love our enemies, do good to them that hate you into a light that reveals God commanding us to do that which he himself has already done.

Exactly right. There's error in this teaching. God hates sinners SO much that He took his very begotten Son and sent him into a world of pure evil and let Him be ANNIHILATED on a cross... Tortured, whipped, beaten, flesh ripped off his bones than nailed to a cross. ... He really hates sinners doesn't He? NO! ... For SO LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.~ (John 3:16) ... "God loved us before we loved Him."... God rewardeth both fools and transgressors .... "I did not come to save the righteous but sinners." ... "I come not to destroy men's lives but to save them." ... "God would have it so that ALL flesh would be saved." You have great discernment sister. He needs to correct this sermon and change it to teaching on the "WRATH" of God... God does hate evil and wickedness and sin. To teach a doctrine that, lost, wicked people are people God hates is 100% Contradiction to the Gospel and entire purpose of why He sent is own SON to be butchered on on a cross for us sinners: miserable, wretched, poor blind and naked: ... Regardless it's incorrect and irresponsible to teach a message like this when "It's the LOVE of God that leadeth a sinner to repentance" ... Telling miserable sinners "God hates you" is a Westoboro Baptist tactic that does NOT inspire or win souls. I'll leave you with this beautiful passage of scripture from Ephesians 2: 4 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. God bless you, and stay in the LOVE and LIGHT of our Abba/Father and be preacher of the GOOD~NEWS! ~~~~SeA ya in the SON!~~~ Henry-Joe Murphy SeaHawk Ministries

why? because he preached the Word? Remember this before its too late: *the Word of God is not a one-sided sword. It is a double-edged sword.* The same Word that says God is love also says "God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day. If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready." We must prefer to hear the double-edged Word than to have our ears tickled. God's Love is on one hand and His Wrath is on another. He gives us grace that we MIGHT receive Love. If we reject His love, we face the full wrath of God. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God, the Bible says. We love to quote John 3:16 but we do not really understand that is carries the love and anger of God towards us. The cross is the wrath and the love of God made manifest. If we do not understand the wrath of God, then we do not understand the love of God and we cannot truly understand why Christ really died. He died for God's wrath against us so that we might inherit God's love towards us. This is what Paul Washer preached. He preached the pure double edged Word of God. The so-called Christians today do not know their God. They want to hear God is Love but block their ears from hearing God is Just. They do not understand that those who name by the name of Christ MUST depart from evil. They do not understand that *to fear the LORD is to hate evil and to love God is to hate evil.*

Do you not know that the fire is God's just wrath and hatred towards sin and the sinner? The scriptures testify of God's hatred towards the sin AND the sinner. Yet, God is love and while we were sinners He died for us. That was God's display of perfect love...that while He had great hatred toward us, He gave His Son to die for us to show His great love.

Christians should be open to ask questions, fighting the good fight of faith, not confirmed to the things of this world. We are not insecure or sceptical! People like Paul Washer actually care about your souls, not using tricks or the latest gimmicks, stimulating your nerve endings with temporary emotional self preaching (hype). Confronting problems is an opportunity for change and setting people free which leads to true repentance at the foot of the cross!

In psalms 5:4 and proverbs 6:16 it says that God not only hates wickedness, but the wicked themselves. But like Paul says this is not the same kind of selfish hatred that we display, but that it is a Holy and righteous hatred which is a lot worse for us. In romans 5 it says that we are enemies of God and that God's wrath is upon us. Romans 1 says that we are wickedly depraved and God hating. We hate God therefore He hates us.

When you say God loves sinners you basically take away a righteous indignation of God away from Him and take Him this righteous satisfaction. I don't wanna be on that place, not after knowing all the things my flesh was capable to do and still is. I believe i am somewhere else now, because He loves me not as a sinner.

It will not be sin that is cast into the lake of fire, but sinners. It will be love that casts sinners into the lake of fire. The love for righteousness, holiness and truth will be what puts every sinner who is without repentance, without the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit and without the cleansing power of Christ's sacrifice into the lake of fire to know only the wrath of God for all eternity.

No He does not. He loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son here to die on a cross for you. His precious blood can save you and wash you clean from your sins. 2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

When I saw my firstborn, minutes after he came to this world. I was actually thinking about the idea of original sin. That was the moment that I found this doctrine revolting. My son was offensive to a god holyness, just for the mere fact that he exists?. My son is not perfect, but the love that connects me to him is. I can assure you, that love is not your god. I despise Christianity for this, because it demands parents to prefer God holyness over their children. A god that demands that, is not a good God. This pastor needs you to believe this, because his status and his lifestyle depends on your fear. When you are afraid, you don't question anything, this is why the ideas of original sin and hell don't go away.

I absolutely enjoy Paul Washer and believe he is anointed. Except, I think he has it wrong on this one. If God hates sinners, then how could he love the world to give up his only begotten son? I say it isn't true, I'm not sure what bible he is reading from but my KJV in Psalms 5:5 says "workers" of iniquity. You must understand what iniquities are to use this verse in the pulpit. Isaiah 53:5 -"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Workers of iniquity would refer to the demonic realm. Jesus said if you look at another women in lust you've committed adultery. Iniquity is the unrighteousness or evil in your heart. You have use the whole bible in context with a given scripture. Read John 3:16 plz. Or Romans 5:8. We must understand God's love for us and how much he desires a relationship with us. He gave up his son, and through his blood God chooses to forget our transgressions and iniquities so he can have an intimate relationship with us. Spend more time with our Father, Brethren. Much Love :)

Eric Watson He read Scripture, so you think God is wrong, not Paul...John 3:16 says God loved the world, meaning not just the Jews, but Jew & Gentile and gave His Son so that The Believing Ones (literally the Greek says) would not perish but have eternal life....God's Son came to die and extinguish His wrath, but against believes...And that love was displayed at a specific event, the cross. Jesus Himself says unless u believe the wrath of God REMAINS upon you. It's just a matter of when the full extent of that wrath is carried out fully and finally, it is carried out daily in measures mixed with mercy, see Romans 1

Therefore, you go about your life, wanting to please God, wanting to be like Jesus Christ and being more aware of your actions. You do this not of fear of going to hell, but because you are filled with love with what Jesus Christ sacrificed for you. Your actions and behavior is are pure and genuine. Am I wrong?

Considering the statement made in the bible I believe God loves the sinner to the extent they still resemble the image of God. But at the same time he hates the sinner to the extent that they have corrupted the image of God. And is because of his love for the image of God he destroys the one who corrupts it. Does anyone see this as problematic?

@BeholdTheCross Problematic? My problem is this. God our Father has made us all in His image, sadly, many christians repay our father by doing the same to our Him. When a person reads scripture with his carnal mind, he gets a literal interpretation and this leads to errors of our beliefs of our Father.

Paul Washer doesn't understand anything about the nature of our Heavenly Father. Jesus was the true image and expression of God. Jesus did not HATE the woman caught in adultery He put the ones who wanted to stone her in their place. And he came to save the lost not the righteous. The bible tells us to LOVE even our enemies. God hates a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, ETC....But He LOVES His creation, and He LOVES humanity. Satan came to KILL, STEAL, and DESTROY. Jesus came to heal and to save, and to Restore! He gave HIS life on the Cross for this purpose. He WAS successful! He was NOT a failure. The bible tells us that He is the savior of ALL mankind, but, ESPECIALLY of those who believe. There will be corrective punishment, but it is for the purpose of redemption To believe that God's plan was to eternally burn MOST people in some torture chamber is insane and NOT in the bible except where scribes and pharisees have mistranslated words like Aeon (age, or period of time), into meaning eternal or never ending.

A “perfect” universe (to him) was one where billions and billions and billions of people would be tortured forever. He intended for it to be that way. If he didn’t, it wouldn’t be that way. That’s the nature of Omnipotence and Omniscience. The free will argument doesn’t even apply here because you were never given a choice, he makes that choice for you when he made you. He created you, KNOWING you were going to hell, for the sole purpose of torturing you forever. Created you knowing you’ll get a nanoscopic amount of life and then be tortured for the rest of infinity. He can’t know everything and then be surprised by your decisions. If your god knows EVERYTHING, he can never be wrong. Therefore, if he knows you’re going to hell, you’re going to hell. And yet, he allowed you to be born. He planned for you to go to hell...

Did God hate the woman at the well and the woman caught in adultery (and their male counterparts)? No, he loved them in spite of their sin. He loved them enough to challenge them to repentance. Loving someone does not necessarily mean that you approve of their behavior. Romans 5:8 says Christ died for us while we were yet sinners.

@KayPerestrello when Jesus was in agony on the cross crying to the Father, Why hast Thou forsaken me; it was because Jesus was taking the full wrath of the Father. It was at that moment that Jesus became sin. We call people to repentance in belief in Jesus for the terror of the Lord that awaits all those that will be found outside of the blood of the Lamb for protection. There is no need for a gospel where there is no fear of holy righteous God to judge and rightly condemn sinners to hell.

God's benevolence for sinners in not emotional or sentimental feeling. He DOES NOT accept sinners "just the way they are"; they must REPENT (CHANGE) and believe in order to be accepted by Him (Acts 10:35). He doesn't love sinners the way that they want Him to: He does not give them unconditional approval, unconditional acceptance, unconditional forgiveness, or unconditional friendship. Does God Hate Sinners? There are many Old Testament (old covenant) verses that talk about God hating sinners. Leviticus 20:23; Psalm 11:5; 26:5; Proverbs 6:16-19; 16:5; Hosea 9:10-15 and Malachi 1:2-3. These passages teach that God hates sinners or evil and wicked people. In contrast the New Testament (New Covenant) scriptures also teach that God loves everyone. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” John 3:16 New King James Version 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 1 John 4:8-9 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. Luke 6:35-36 New King James Version 35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. Many teachers that hold to the notion that God hates sinners tend to use Old Testament verses to justify their theology. Yes, the whole Bible is the inspired word of God, But again let us be reminded that we are under a new covenant. Our main example of God loving sinners is found in Jesus. Jesus showed the world God’s love when He came to earth and healed the sick, cleansed the lepers, delivered the demon possessed, fed the multitudes and Died for all. How many of them where sinners? All of them, because Jesus had not died on the cross yet. God loves the sinner (the person who is sinning) and wants to save them from their sin. On other words, He loves the person apart from thier sin. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5:10 New Living Translation 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son The Word of God loudly screams that God loves everyone. He rescued the wicked city of Nineveh through a reluctant prophet called Jonah. Jesus died for the sins of the world. But in contrast to the holy believers, God is not very pleased with those who reject Him. Yet, God loves the world. God will leave the 99 to rescue the 1 that is lost. He loves you apart from your sin. He loves the sinner enough to die for the sinner. He wants to rescue the sinner from thier sin. The fact that Jesus died for the world shows us how much He loved sinners by going to a cross and dying for them. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” So yes, God loves the sinner and wants to rescue them from thier sin.

@69hulkk the reason we don't understand God's love is because we don't understand what is righteousness or holiness. it is so foreign to our sinful and wicked natures, we don't really have a clue what it is. but of all the things that God praises above anything else, by stating it three times in a row, it is his holiness. Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD God Almighty. this is the cry of the angels that have been around his throne for thousands of years.

@KayPerestrello To experience the wrath of God is of such great terror that it caused the Son of God to cry tears of blood at the thought of its imminent approach. But the greatness of the Son's faithfulness was that even in the face of this grave reality, yet for the love of the Father, and for the love of his own, he was ready to take up this cup, and did. To that belongs the praise of the Lord forever, whose mercy endures forever.

The opposite of love is not hate, it is neutrality, indifference. And God would not "intervene" with himself; one may not intervene with oneself. It is not a matter of intervention of a self, it is a matter of changing the thought and behavior of a self, for whatever reason or reasons. That would simply be a continuation of self with altered perspective.

Only in Christ you see the exact image of the invisible God. Jesus hanging on a cross, mocked, insulted, dying to restore you-manity back to original created value. Because of destiny, purpose, love. The authors of the Bible are using anthropomophic expressions in order to try and understand God(even though all human expressions fall short). So under Washer's logic when the Bible says Moses saw God's back, he literally saw a man floating in the sky with his back turned to him. Or when it says God regretted his creation in Genesis, he literally felt a human emotion of regret(continued)

The wrath that is ours to bear unless Christ himself has already endured it for us. There's also scriptures that suggest God does not hate sinners, Mathew 21:31"Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes (sinners) will get into the kingdom of God before you.(pharisees/ who thought they were sinless), Mark 2:13-17 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him. 15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and Sinners?” (If Paul Washer believes God Hates Sinners, then if he was in this time he would be standing with the pharisees saying exactly what they are saying which is, Why is that man eating with Sinners!! God hates Sinners!! he cannot be of God) wake up people he who has eyes to see look, and he who has ears to hear Listen! 17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but Sinners.” If God Hates sinners then why is Jesus Christ eating with sinners, conversing with sinners!! If God Hates Sinners then why does he say For i have not come to call for the Righteous BUT FOR SINNERS!! and this is new testament people, if GOD hated a worldly man a sinning man, then I tell you he would not have let his son Die, for you, for me, for sinners and for anyone who wants to have eternal life through him! “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven Mark 2:13, The will of the father is to spread the word to Sinners, to help gods lost sheep not lead them astray!

@KayPerestrello The sin that you speak of God hating is not committed in a vacuum. It is committed by sinners who do so willinging. Without sinners taking pleasure in committing sin there would be no sin to hate. If God loves everyone, then God will save everyone. God's love is everlasting and powerful. To say God loves someone who winds up in hell is to speak of God who is not worthy of worship. Romans 8 asks the question: what shall separate us from the love of God which is in Jesus Christ?

God can't force his love upon us, we're the ones who choose to love him. he did what he had to for us to be saved, he sent Jesus so that we can choose to go to Heaven if we follow Jesus teaching and have faith in him. we must accept that we offend God through sin, and can only acknowledge what he has done for us to be saved

Yes.. God hates sin, but He loves sinners that's why gave His only begotten Son. If the sinner continues in sin and reject the God's offer of salvation through His Son, then the sinner will suffer the wrath of God. I like your analogy about loving the Jews so we should hate the Holocaust and loving the babies so we should hate abortion.. but the analogy is all about love the person and hate the action. Then you moved to Psalm.. I believe that refers to a person who does not repent and continues to live in sin despite the grace of God. Yes.. preachers should preach about the wrath of God, the poison of sin, but as you have said, God extends His hands to sinners. Romans 5:8 says, God commendeth His love in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God is so patient with us and He loves us so much that He is not willing that any should perish. God wants us to repent while we still have life here on earth or before He comes because God does not want us to experience the wrath of God.

There is a lot of talk of false teachers these days and rightly so. But if a preacher calls another preacher, who focuses on the love and goodness of God, a devil, but the accuser speaks of the living God almost only of being an angry judgemental God then we have a problem in Houston. The accuser turns out to be a false prophet himself because he is not representing the core being of God - that of being love. Since Jesus died and rose again, God has a place of acceptance and of true spiritual growth in peace toward God - Calvary and the empty tomb. That is the legal ground of reconciliation and peace with God. We are called to base our relationship with a reconciled God on this premise: we believers are paid for and imparted with eternal life. That is pure grace and personalised through faith. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:18‭-‬21 KJV bible.com/bible/1/2co.5.18-21.KJV
