Paul Wranitzky was a favored composer of Empress Marie Therese, and wrote many works for the private use of her and her family.The symphony in D minor, " La Tempesta" , is among the symphonies that were neither published in print, nor widely circulated. The catalogue of the Viennese music copyist Traeg lists a symphony in D minor, which very likely could be this symphony. Incomplete manuscript parts survive in Hamburg and Modena.

I heard Paul Wranitzky's D minor symphony for the first time in this upload. Naturally, it's my favorite symphony. The first movement is mostly dominated by the subject in C minor, which is a characteristic of this movement. The second movement is a bright and clear tune, and the whole movement is unified, and although there is a part in D minor, I think it is very beautiful music. The third movement is reminiscent of Johann Bptist Wanhal's minor symphony, and is suitable for the title of "La tempesta". In any case, this symphony has a strong presence and is big, and I think it would be good for more classic fans to listen to it.
