Having been to Munich and a lover of the helles style and I've tried all the big 6 breweries in Munich and the best 3 are always Augustiner, Paulaner and Hofbräu - no beer on earth will beat the bavarian helles style beers!
@rodgerraubach275310 ай бұрын
My absolute fave is Augustiner(#1), followed by Hofbraeu (#2), Hacker-Pschorr (#3), Spaten (#4), Lowenbraeu (#5), and Paulaner comes in as my (#6). All are 10/10.

This is a great Bavarian Helles. Some of the biggest Munich malt flavours in any beer I've had. Have you ever tried their Pils?

This as good as Hofbrau original?

From the bottle, I think they're on a par. I've had Paualner on keg over here and it's great but not had Hofbrau so it would be unfair of me to compare them. Needless to say they're both great beers and you won't go wrong with either.

Got a few of these in Tesco today, 2 quid a bottle. Outstanding beer👍🏻

WHAAAATT??? Tescos is doing this for 2 quid a bottle? I know where I'm going tomorrow. They also do it on draught in The Thirsty Pig too.

you should check out the stuff they're selling in marks and spencers as this, cos it ain't legit. tastes like an over-sweetened, under-carbonated golden ale.
@bandsbikesandboozereviews4 жыл бұрын
Christ that doesn't sound good. It must be the same stuff that Tesco's are selling now. I'm really hoping they haven't gone down the Holsten Pils and Lowenbrau route and started brewing it over here. The stuff I get from Beers of Europe is definitely from Germany so it'd be interesting to compare the two.
@papalegba67594 жыл бұрын
@@bandsbikesandboozereviews pretty sure the label said made in germany, but like i say, the bavarian reiheitsgebot allows em to do what they want with export beer, & to add sugar to top fermenting beers, so i'm guessing it was made that way. maybe they just snuck over a dodgy batch for xmas, hoping everyone's too drunk to notice, but i swear it wasn't right. woulda been over-sweet even for an oktoberfest brew & had next to no carbonation. smelled good, but more like an ale than a helles. i got it from marks & sparks, see if you can pick 1 up maybe, they got a few interesting beers there you ain't reviewed too.

@@papalegba6759 Cheers mate. There's a local pub that serves Paulaner on tap and they actually get it shipped over from Germany. During the last full lockdown they couldn't get any of it and it wasn't available for a while. Tastes superb in there. There's also another pub just up the road that gets Budvar on draught reguarly as it's the landlord's favourite. Absolutely superb. I didn't know that about the reiheitsgebot and export beer. Usually the good brewers have their own export beers which still conform so I'm really hoping this is just a bad batch. There's no excuse for changing the brewing method if that's what Paulaner have done. Very poor form indeed.
@papalegba67594 жыл бұрын
@@bandsbikesandboozereviews yeah it's a puzzler, maybe it's some kind of 'f*ck you' over brexit?. i'm still unsure whether bavarian purity laws allow the export of beer with adjuncts or not, but they definitely allow the use of sugar in top fermented beer, which'd explain why it tasted/smelled like an oversweet golden ale rather than a lager. this is a funny article on the reinheitsgebot, by a very knowledgeable writer: www.europeanbeerguide.net/reinheit.htm
