Most people who paint fluffy white clouds think that they're white. Sometimes they are... however, most times they're a mix of colors, and have shadows. I'm glad you've included shadows. Study clouds... almost always, they have and cast shadows.🎉

I watched this this morning and while waiting for dead-car-battery help this afternoon, I noticed how colorful the bottoms of the fluffy whites that were passing by were! Spring must be here! I did see purple with the gray. It was just perfect for the wait. I love painting clouds!

Hi Paul, Thank you for your entertaining and even relaxing way of explaining a cloudy sky. I have a question: if there is an object, eg a building or sail boat, in front of the sky, would you first paint the sky or the object (off coarse I'll also try it myself, I think it is also important to let the sky or object dry before painting the oher thing)?
@paulappswildlifeart
@paulappswildlifeart Жыл бұрын
It is a good question, I normally lay the sky and allow to dry first. I also know others who will do the opposite, but only on solid objects. Items such as masks and poles etc go in at the end. cheers P

@paulappswildlifeart

Yes some of those brand really push their granulation properties, I feel that the blue will often do this anyway as the pigments are heavy and sink more easily. A case of trying brand and see what works best for you. Cheers P

Love to watch you paint. But i get disgusted when i try it myself. Trying to get back into painting after being away from it for 40 yrs. I dont know why highschool and college instructers thought i could paint. There is so much to learn they never taught me. Its anything but enjoyable, yet i cant stop gazing at artwork on walls, and potential compositions when ever im outdoors.

Thanks very much P. Thought you might like to know that I discovered both problem and answer. This morning i pulled out a w.c. pencil sketch i started 2 yrs ago of our river birch tree. Just trying to be quiet so my husband could take a nap, i tip toed out unto the patio with my stuff and started painting without thinking of what ive learned from viewing your lessons. As i did my OWN thing, several things you taught came to mind, one by one and i implemented them with success. Before i was approaching painting with 10 new things id gleaned from your videos - all essential but impossible to learn in one sitting or implement in first painting! You have given yrs of time to painting and practice. Thank you for passing it along! Cheers!
