First thing is congratulations on becoming a father, as there is no greater gift than a child. Secondly congratulations on your new home and studio. The fact that you started small and worked with what you had not only shows creativity but it makes reaching your goal even more gratifying. I'm not a KZbin personality but I have been a professional musician for over thirty years both touring and studio and I too always had the dream of a comfortable studio in my home. A few years ago it materialized and I share your feelings regarding having all of my recording, guitars and amps set up and ready at a moments notice to play and create music. Like yourself my guitars are all on display and at the ready. Not only are they works of art but to me they are pure inspiration. I may walk into the studio with nothing when suddenly a certain guitar catches my eye and I am compelled to pick it up and play, now that's when the unexpected happens. Things like that would never happen with guitars locked up in cases. Anyway I most certainly can relate to your own scenario. All the best in your future projects as I will be watching. Oh by the way, I have three children and I tell you it gets better everyday having them. All the best !

I'm in a similar situation. Waited my whole life to make a "Dojo" if that makes sense. But it does take a while to figure out where you want to put stuff, until you start putting stuff where you want it, and where it makes sense. I digress. The whole point of looking you up was to thank ya for the "connected" video. Forgot what it was called. 5 steps to get better? Anyways - I've always just memorized patterns, and over time got the knack of knowing which square makes the sound I'm going for. So it's always been a "barely hanging on" kind of existence playing-wise. I started with "A" and went through every scale, every chord, and started linking note names and associated them with the patterns I knew. Holy cow! I'm learning Piano and Guitar, at the same time, on a whole other level. I'm not rushed to figure out where I'm going next, I just know. So thanks a lot for giving me a push in the right direction. I'll send a photo when I'm done with mine!

Wow, David this is such a nice studio, especially considering your old room. One basic question from me. What guitar hooks do you use to mount your guitars on the wall and do you screw them into the wall, wood bracing or do you just use plasterboard wall plugs. It looks like you have wooden locks on the walls. I am just too worried about the holders falling off the wall and damaging my guitar. I therefore keep mine in its case at the moment and as you say, it is not necessarily ready to go :(
