Im here, sitting in my tiny rental flat, side by side with a very noisy road, in the upper level full of humidity where my daughter, wife and I get 30°C in summer and 14 in winter, being balder day after day without an amp and with only one guitar...enjoying and being happy for you, man, having the studio of our dreams! You made it! Congrats!

Awesome studio! My current guitar studio is actually my very first bedroom I had since I was a toddler. It was my bedroom for 40 years ( minus the very short time l moved out with me ex ). I've lived in the same house all my life. So my current studio is the same room where I used to play with my Fisher Price toys and sleep in my Star Wars pijamas, lol. Lots of memories in that room.

First thing is congratulations on becoming a father, as there is no greater gift than a child. Secondly congratulations on your new home and studio. The fact that you started small and worked with what you had not only shows creativity but it makes reaching your goal even more gratifying. I'm not a KZbin personality but I have been a professional musician for over thirty years both touring and studio and I too always had the dream of a comfortable studio in my home. A few years ago it materialized and I share your feelings regarding having all of my recording, guitars and amps set up and ready at a moments notice to play and create music. Like yourself my guitars are all on display and at the ready. Not only are they works of art but to me they are pure inspiration. I may walk into the studio with nothing when suddenly a certain guitar catches my eye and I am compelled to pick it up and play, now that's when the unexpected happens. Things like that would never happen with guitars locked up in cases. Anyway I most certainly can relate to your own scenario. All the best in your future projects as I will be watching. Oh by the way, I have three children and I tell you it gets better everyday having them. All the best !

I'm in a similar situation. Waited my whole life to make a "Dojo" if that makes sense. But it does take a while to figure out where you want to put stuff, until you start putting stuff where you want it, and where it makes sense. I digress. The whole point of looking you up was to thank ya for the "connected" video. Forgot what it was called. 5 steps to get better? Anyways - I've always just memorized patterns, and over time got the knack of knowing which square makes the sound I'm going for. So it's always been a "barely hanging on" kind of existence playing-wise. I started with "A" and went through every scale, every chord, and started linking note names and associated them with the patterns I knew. Holy cow! I'm learning Piano and Guitar, at the same time, on a whole other level. I'm not rushed to figure out where I'm going next, I just know. So thanks a lot for giving me a push in the right direction. I'll send a photo when I'm done with mine!

oh, one more thing: with that isolation under the floor, you do still have some ventilation holes in the outside walls? Else this may end up becoming a wet and rotting blubber.. speaking from experience... www.milieucentraal.nl/energie-besparen/energiezuinig-huis/isoleren-en-besparen/zelf-vloer-isoleren/

I live in Amsterdam. This is also a luxury here in The Netherlands, even in Rotterdam where prices are not as crazy as in other cities. However, I can't think of someone who deserves it more that Paul.

Hi. I am in the process to upgrade my Project Audio Studio into a Audio/Video/Living Space....cause I am almost 14 hr in this room. So your video was a good inspiration in the "little things" You got me with the colour of the sofa, because this is the theme of my Studio...and the smiling screen: What a nice touch! Thanks a lot, I'll will come back with a vid when mine is complete. Greetz from Germany!

Wow, David this is such a nice studio, especially considering your old room. One basic question from me. What guitar hooks do you use to mount your guitars on the wall and do you screw them into the wall, wood bracing or do you just use plasterboard wall plugs. It looks like you have wooden locks on the walls. I am just too worried about the holders falling off the wall and damaging my guitar. I therefore keep mine in its case at the moment and as you say, it is not necessarily ready to go :(
