In this video I'm explaining and showing the concept of making a beautiful guitar part out of basic chords. Pretty much alike 'Turn those some old chords into something beautiful' but now with a different vibe. I'm using the loop function of Ableton live to stack the guitar parts, but all parts sound great on their own too. It's all in the key of D major, and all chords I'm using are explained in the video!

With everything I learned from this channel I was able to create a whole new way of playing and it inspired my new music so much. Paul, I want you to listen to it when it's released! (It's mixed by a mutual friend by the way.)

@@PaulDavids The most important thing I learned (besides playing less notes) is adding the 6th for a minor feeling in a major chord and vice versa.

4:36 - the best sentence in guitar tuition ever! "It resolves to G major TO MY EARS"! I love to hear you NOT setting A MUST in resolving a harmony, but merely explaining what you feel like in that situation! Wonderful video!

Well, harmony still explains it. D/F# is a passing chord to G, so G fells more resolved, but it still sounds like IV chord to me. How about you?
@bubuguaiguai
@bubuguaiguai 6 жыл бұрын
@@markovasylenko5303 well, it is (in my head) defined by overall mood. Since the author keeps entertaining me, I tend to expect a more "joyful" resolves from him, so this G is in it's place. Paul could play the saddest chord in the world (D minor to me) and from his hands I'd perceive it as "elegant", not sad!

Hi Paul. Thanks for sharing this amazing tutorial. Your video's are giving me new and fresh inspiration. I felt I was a kind of stuck in my chord progression but after trying and experimenting with this (and other tutorials from your channel), I got an inspiring boost. So keep up the excellent work. The way you share and teach musical knowledge/creativity is very generous (and refreshing).

Thanks Paul, useful and educational as always. In addition, it might have been good to explain why you positioned the various sounds on the strings that you did. As well as use the pedal note repeated in the leading guitar voice (octave lower). The shimmer notes have their own frequency range and therefore stay audible under the louder lead notes, thus creating the broader sound and the listener to be able to hear both. Even though the shimmer notes are hardly noticeable, they would be missed if not there.

Beautiful piece, Paul. I have to say that, to me, it feels like that first G sounds out the 4 chord in the piece...which is correct if the actual root key is D. As always, your tone is amazing, and your execution is flawless. You never fail to teach us another piece of beauty.

G feels like home until you discover home is not home anymore. Resolving to D in the end wiped the illusion of home on G. None of the cords have a strong sounding root. Even the pedal notes has A as lowest to make you even more floating. It keeps you searching for home. We need a good poet to describe the vibe in words. I have not felt like this song yet but it would be a nice feeling.. A SciFi scene, floating in space is what comes to mind. Maybe while meeting a divine creature.
