Pauley Perrette says goodbye to Abby on "NCIS"

Actress Pauley Perrette's character from the series "NCIS," Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto, is one of the best-loved crimefighters on TV. But now, Pauley's decided to leave the show, and after 15 years, she's having a hard time letting go. Correspondent Tracy Smith talks with Perrette about life beyond Abby - from her long fascination with criminal science, to the more than two dozen charities which she supports, including her pet charity, the Amanda Foundation, a non-profit animal rescue in Beverly Hills.

I always wanted to be a forensic/ criminal scientist but they didn't have femals in that. Now that they do I'm 65 so I missed my calling. I read. CSIs started it and NCISs have continued it. I just love it.

I stopped watching as much when Cote left. I couldn't imagine the team without Ziva. Then Michael left for Bull and I lost even more interest. Now that Pauleys leaving I honestly don't think I can watch it at all. I've never had a favorite character, it's always been about the chemistry and the team as a whole that I loved about the show.

The main thing my wife and I loved about her was the way she showed the world's young girls you can do anything no matter who you are or what you believe, and also sometimes there was still a little kid in that brilliant person!!! I didn't watch a lot of NCIS but when I did Abby was my favorite character. I remember one episode near the end she kept asking Gibbs if she could "Deck" this guy. She was like "please let me hit him." Gibbs kept saying just a moment. Well finally the "prep" said something and Gibbs went "Abby." and Abby punched the "prep" directly in the face and he went down. It was above all my favorite Abby Scene. very sad she is leaving no one will ever replace her but they have to get some one to put in her spot

The only reason I continued watching NCIS after both Tony and Ziva’s characters left was because Abby, McGee and Palmer were still there. Now that Pauli is leaving I’m done. There have been too many changes too quickly and none of them have been for the better. The producers of this show made a HUGE mistake not paying Cote dePablo what she was worth - the show went totally downhill after she left. Even Tony’s character lost his fun side after Ziva was gone. Ducky (another of my long time favorites on the show) left with barely a word. Over time, Abby has become less “goth” and more like everybody else. Part of what made Abby’s character as fun as she was is that she was not only a brilliant young woman, but also a very unique person and thinker. Those characters that are left just aren’t enough to hold the show together any more now that Pauli is leaving. Pauli, wherever you are going and whatever you’ll be doing, you’ll be greatly missed, You made your fans smile for many years, now go take the time you need and want to find your smile! You’ve earned quality time with your four-legged babies (I’m a huge animal lover too).☺️ Don’t totally disappear - PLEASE!!!

The last I saw of him on the show his character had been offered a teaching job at a university and he was taking an indefinite leave of absence from autopsy. Marie Butler-Goble right now in the story line Ducky is writing a book about many of the cases he worked on as an ME (medical examiner). his assistant on the book was shown in one of the episodes. AND sheis a lot like Abby. Her degree is even in forensic science. If they replace Abby then I think she should be the one to replace Abby.

I think I saw either in an interview on KZbin or in an article on an entertainment magazine (one that actually reports instead of makes up news), that they offered Cote de Pablo a lot to stay, but some people gave her the David Caruso treatment and convinced her there was a movie career out their with her name on it.

It was hard to lose Kate, the cast was great,...but it was hard not to like Ziva and truly love her, so when she left, that was really hard, and I knew it was going to suck when DiNozzo left, but they did such a sad/happy episode for his last one. Finding out that Ziva had been killed when a bomb hit where she lived but a child survived, named Talli (not sure I spelled that right) and in Vance's office, came someone with a stroller. That was when we all thought a moment about the connection, and it was finally known that Tony and Ziva had sex at least once, lol. So him leaving "to take care of his daughter" there were tears, but some happy and some sad. Now Abby is leaving and I see Ducky as well. I've been wondering since he has been absent for so many episodes. But after all, he's not a kid anymore. I'm glad we've had such a great show for so many years.

With Abby leaving, NCIS should have simply gone out on top after this season. It's never going to be the same without Abby, even if Gibbs is still there. It's gone as far as it can go, and the quality of the show is only going to be further deluted. We saw CSI overstayed its welcome, and wound up getting an abbreviated final season as it was cancelled. That's what I feel will also happen to NCIS. I've watched this show since it started in my freshmen year of HS and it's been my favorite show. But it's time to move on, and this show deserves to go out on top, instead of being run into the ground just to keep making money. Long-running shows like ER, HIMYM, JAG and Friends knew it was time and went out on top. TBBT knows it's time is up and will be ending next year. It's that time for NCIS.

Gorden Wood I agree. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to watch it with Abby gone. Too many people who have made NCIS what it is have left. I mean, I do like Bishop and Torres, but it just isn’t the same without Tony and Ziva. The team was absolutely perfect with them on it.

I love Mark Harmon and Sean Murray but they just can’t carry the show alone. David Maccallum is all but retired now and I adore Brian Dietzen as Palmer but he just isn’t Ducky. The show is nearly done and it’s had a great run.

Melinda Kinnaird ; she also appeared, briefly, on an episode on the first season of 24. She played a beautician who picked up Jack Bauers wife ( played by Leslie Hope, who played as the Sec Nav on NCIS) who was wandering around with amnesia.

Yeah I remember her being on the show was the episode where Catherine Willows ex-husband Eddie if I say anymore want to spoil it for anybody who's never seen it but she was terrific in it

She also worked in he coffee shop on Frasier and appeared on "The Drew Carey Show" as a groupie when his band played gigs at the airport.
