@@cultofmalgus1310 22s get a bad rap because they are ammo picky. Find an ammo your gun like and it's not really an issue. My 10/22 likes Aguila standard. Very helpful. i inherited a .25 made by a sub company of Beretta. Its good quality. It shoots good too! i suprized myself on how accurate it was at 10 yards. When i carry it, it has been loaded with hornady 36 grain xtp which im bettin' are real similar to critical defense. i have rarely carried it partly because i have no confidence in .25 rnd and second would only take it when i was trying to be as discreet as possible about carrying a gun and it is VERY concealable. Truly a palm gun and so flat and thin if you put it in your back pocket its hard to distinguish from a wallet. After getting the facts from Paul i think i will carry this gun more often.

My only 'Test' was a buddy with a .25 and myself with a 2-shot .22 short Derringer shooting into a box of Natl Geos in my apartment way back when. The .22 short penetrated better than the .25. That said, neither is my first choice but I've noticed that, when you start poking holes in people they tend to Disengage from the activity that got you poking holes into them san Methamphetamines or Bath Salts. So, my personal first choice? .45acp or .357 Magnum with whatever round you happen to have. If I had nothing but either a ,25 or .22 I would make the best possible use of the low recoil to put as many holes into the Target as possible in as shoert of a time as possible, if they did not Disengage then I would use the weapon as a Club figuring they are bleeding out and weakening anyway so I'm doing them a favor by shortening their suffering to a minute rather than an Hour.

Great information as usual, Sir, and I thank you for your efforts. WRT the .25ACP cartridge for self defense, I've always considered it an "eyeball" round, meaning for it to have any appreciable effect on an adversary, you have to shove the barrel into their eye THEN pull the trigger. Another thing I've pretty much decided on is, if you shoot someone with a .25ACP round and they FIND OUT, they are gonna be pissed off! In closing, I am no longer a professional insofar as I don't wear a Badge and gun for my financial livelihood and I have NO desire to piss anyone off by shooting them with that cartridge. That said there is truth in the saying that having ANY gun when faced with bodily injury is a good gun. Just NOT if other, better, options are available. Just sayin' but YMMV. Thanks again for the presentation. Overnout

.25 isn't much, but it beats nothing by a wide margin. it's also more powerful/effective than people perceive. I have killed a deer with one. Granted, it was about six yards away and a head shot, but you get the point. Yes, almost any gun would be better, but sometimes the small .25 (that baby Browning is tiny) can make the difference between program compliance and not.

.25 acp at 7 yards will punch through a human skull. Also Amy round going less than 1400fps hollow points are not a effective as solid bullets.

Wow. That’s awesome that you gave the .25 a fair chance against .22. Most youtubers use a small 25 and a ruger .22 which is not a good comparison. Thank you for your great input and even greater video. Also I have a few designs for multiple bullets I test out. I’m only 15 so legally I can only test them with supervision and so on. Your videos have inspired me to become a machinist and my grandpa who is teaching me, as always thank you, God bless you and have a wonderful day. Edit: Also what state do you live in, is it Oregon or somewhere near that? I live in PA, but I wanted to see if I could send some stuff. (I also make knives and stuff like that and once I’m done with the one i spent way to much time on i would like you to give me good input)

Some years ago, Jeff Cooper was writing about 25 ACP, a d recounted some tales where people were hit with a 25 and didn't know it until the incidents were over. He sais he had been asked by several "spookchicks" (assumedly female intelligence officers) if they should carry a .25 as a deep cover gun. He responded that they could, if it made them feel better. However, if they did so, they should not load it, because if they loaded it they might shoot it, and if they shot it they might hit somebody, and if they hit someone AND HE FOUND OUT ABOUT IT, he might become dangerously annoyed. All that being said, it is certainly better than nothing. Back in the day, i used to hear that the old Winchester 45 gr pelletnose load would expand a little, or at least deform somewhat at the nose. Don't know if Win still makes it. Great video as always. Thanks for all your work

I don't think that's going to happen, that's why he plays aloof in where your poa should be with certain calibers. He's done it a couple times in his videos. Only my opinion but I think he's distancing himself from just telling people "head shot!"
@moritamikamikara38795 жыл бұрын
@@mrpibb7781 Thing that I worry about is that the skull isn't just there to give structure, it will put up a fight against a bullet. Whether or not that will actually stop it going through probably depends on the angle and of course what bullet, but nonetheless, I worry that a forehead shot with a .25 ACP or a .22lr out of a pocket gun might not successfully penetrate the skull. I mean yeah, it'll break it and even if it doesn't it'll give the target a horrible concussion but I don't know whether or not it'll actually go through and into the brain.

Probably like many of you, I usually stop what I’m doing and immediately go right to Paul’s presentations when notified. While Paul’s stated purpose was to evaluate the .25 acp Hornady Critical Defense cartridge, he added some comparisons using several .22 ammos. To make a more apples-to-apples comparison, at least on the first segment, it would have been fairer to match the Remington .25 rounds against a standard velocity .22 round. Mini-Mags are “hopped up” by CCI. That, in my estimation, would have been a more realistic comparison of terminal velocities. I have a baby Browning and a Beretta 21a. A FMJ is the way to go for such low-powered calibers such as the .25 acp. As for reliability, the .25 baby Browning has it all over the .22 Beretta. The Browning shoots anything, the Beretta is very choosy. Thanks Paul! By the way, why don’t you wear a hat when it’s raining?

Excellent point made about shifting aim point. Aim Hi & don't be stingy with the number of rounds fired. It is an excellent concealed self defense pocket pistol. But not a good offensive combat gun. That's all.

@@smugly6793 Ok, it's an opinion no two situations are identical. But the knock down power of the 25 is unrivaled! Yes I prefer my 45, but it's heavy; hard to conceal on a summer day; & I try not to go anywhere I might have to use a gun. 9 is ok & my 32 is fair enough. The 25 is better than nothing & used deliberately can be very effective/deadly. Nothing is perfect, except my dog ☺

The results today for .25 caliber pocket guns versus a .22 caliber pocket gun are that bullet placement in the central nervous system on a human predator is critical to stopping a threat. Probably, anyone thinking of using these firearms for self defense should consider "double tap" or an accurate shot followed up with an immediate second shot for better results. Police departments train two shots to the body and one shot to the head in case your human predator is wearing body armor. Either one of these pocket guns, should maybe have the idea of "two shots to the body" and "two shots to the head." Some people recommend shooting the threat until the human target stops being a threat. My thinking here is to conserve a couple rounds to engage a second human predator target. The problem with either one of these pocket guns, is unless you get excellent bullet placement on the central nervous system of the target, the wounded human predator is likely going to be able to shoot back at you or continue on lunging at you with a knife etc. A .22 magnum is a little better choice than either one of these guns today assuming you explore the different types of ammo, barrel lengths for the intended purpose etc. These limitations aside, a .22 LR and .25 caliber have been used and are used in lots homicides annually. So these smaller caliber pocket guns can be used effectively but you need central nervous systems hits to stop the human predator threat. Otherwise, the human predator will get a chance to get back at you because death caused by a .22 takes a while for non-central nervous system wounds. The self-defense act with either of these small pocket guns could make you a casualty without a central nervous system hit on the human predator target. www.shootingillustrated.com/articles/2010/10/26/22-lr-for-self-defense/

I reckon the .25 beats a sharp stick... I like mouse guns, but it seems any .25 or .32 FMJ is the way to go. They are fun to shoot and collect. On a quick gas station run they fit in just about any pocket. Mouse guns are definitely not my first choice, but have their niche.. With all that said, nowadays you can get tiny 9mm's but I think what keeps mouse guns around is more nostalgic.. Keep up the great videos!

Watched a Gundoc(?) video on the .25acp. He covered it fairly well. Your video which I had seen a while back popped up in the "related" column. The thing I wonder about is this. I own a Colt automatic 1908 chambered for .25acp. Out of that 5"(+/-) barrel the rounds perform pretty solidly. Also have a mail order no name my Grandfather had with a 3" barrel. It does so so. It's accurate, but a regal pain to disassemble to clean. I load my own as factory 25 ammo sucks being as polite as possible. Without absolutely redlining I can get 900fps almost a grand out of the 5" with 50gr FMJRN. With Hornady HPs running 35gr I don't load so fast because out of the 3" the round won't stabilize over 900fps. They come out well and truly off to the races and won't chamber in the far older 1908 which Grandfather found in the P.I. prior to Japan's push for world domination.
