Good evening Paul! Late to the party again. Love the Sunflowers...thank you Mrs. H!! Speaking of Sunflowers, Kansas is abloom with them, miles and miles of Sunflowers. The King C Gillette blades are very good, I am still using my first one and it has 8 shaves on it and going strong. TOBS Coconut is a favorite of mine; great cream with a nice scent. SOTD: Rex Envoy loaded with a 1963 Gillette Stainless blade (1st use). 1960 Williams Tonsorial soap lathered with a That Darn Rob 26 mm Timber-wolf synthetic. That was the set-up and a fail on the first pass. The vintage Gillette blade was super smooth; no tug and NO whiskers removed! Changed blade to the 1968 Schick Krona Chrome blade (4th use). Traditional 3 pass plus pick-ups. Finished with Thayer's AF SF skin toner and PAA Sacre Bleu aftershave. BBS result with a bit of irritation...perhaps the first blade caused that. Nice shave Paul! Yeah, you look super slick with that coconut palm. Looking forward to your next video. Stay safe, healthy, and take care please.

I like your comment about some people taking longer than others to take up wet shaving. I tried my first DE razor in college. Nicked myself a whole bunch and threw it away. Now 25 years later l tried again and really like it. All the great advice on KZbin really helps! Back then before the internet, all this advice was hard to find.

Nicely done Paul💈💈 Yep, TOBS creams always work good, great scents👌 Sunshine in the bathroom, just fantastic as always, thanks Mrs H😁 Had a two hour drive to the Dermatologist at 6am this morning, so did a down and dirty two pass shave: PAA Cube, Arko soap, RazoRock synth brush, cheap VDH razor/King C Gillette blade, alum, Aqua Velva splash(Spanish), AV balm.. worked out for the trip👍no complaints. Great video and chat as always. Enjoy!

Excellent shave as always, Paul. You control that razor much better than I do. I have the chrome version which I use occasionally...had the gold version too, but I traded it away. The aggression is almost too intense for my face. Looking forward to Saturday/Sunday. Enjoy the rest of your week.

I love the fact you still bring the Futur out to play. I've loved this razor from day one of my wet shaving journey. It was an aspirational purchase for me in the beginning. Now I have razors that make it look very entry-level, but it still holds a rotational slot in my den. Love it. Keep bringing the Futur out Paul :)

I didn't know Aqua Velva could go with a coconut scent, but you apparently made it work. Have you ever tried the Spanish Aqua Velva in the glass bottle? If so, what do you think of it? All the best to you and the missus. The sunflowers remind me of Kansas and eastern Colorado. Very nice.

Hi Paul! I love your two KZbin channels. I love wetshaving, cooking, camping, walks, nature, etc. You're such a great person. Thanks for sharing with us your twice a week SOTD and some of your other great experieces. I need your advice about Merkur Futur. I've got two adjustable DE's safety razors: Merkur Progress 510 and Gillette Slim Adjustable. With the Progress, I use a three-pass (wtg, xtg & atg) and "pickup time, baby!" 🙂 in set 2.5. With The Slim, Imay start from set 9. I'm in the wetshaving for almost two years. Although I have dry skin, the wetshaving is the best thing for me. And with good creams/soaps: Plisson, MdC, Body Shop Maca Root e Aloe Vera (Body Shop), even the Arko stick., I feel confortable to use more agressive safety razors. It doesn't cause me any burns. I also love to use my Tatara Masamune with the Feather blades. So, I feel curious about the Futur. I didn't like the experience with the Rex Ambassador (of a friend of mine). I've got a good business in mind with a Merkur, and, before I go to it, I would like to have your personal opinion. Many thanks & All the Best to you ans Mrs H, Miguel
@PaulHFilms4 жыл бұрын
Hi Miguel, firstly thank you, glad you enjoy the videos on both channels. In regards to the Futur razor, it is and feels aggressive, on any setting, a lot of blade feel and exposure. If you like that, then you will love this razor, otherwise, you would not enjoy it. Hope this helps Miguel, all the best :-)

@@PaulHFilms Hi Paul! Thank you for your feedback! I'm lucky to be able to try a friend's Futur next week. At that time, I will soon see if I get along with her or not. 😉 All the best!

Yesterday I tried a friend's Merkur Futur with a Nacet blade. As I didn't know how I was going to hit her the first time, I did wtg and xtg in position 2, and, atg in position 1. I was surprised by the positive: I didn't have any nick (a slight redness in the left neck, but normal if I do ATG with more aggressive / refined SR's). I like the weight and size of the cable. I had no difficulty in making ATG below the nose, even though its head was more bulky. For the first time, where the passes were very cautious and in minimal sets, I really liked the result! Next shave I will do wtg and xtg in position 3, and atg in position 2 or 1. In terms of glide, do you notice some difference between the matte chrome version and the polished chrome version? a good weekend & stay safe. All the best!

Hi Paul. How can you beat Tobs eh? Real nice shave. Over the years I might cut myself now and again and it will usually leave a small red line after it heals. You try to shave around it but....... Paul: Hi! Hope you're doing well. Your video touched on several issues that I have been actually thinking about and wanted your opinion on: I have been contemplating purchasing either a Merkur Progress or Future, / Parker Variant and or the Rockwell 6C. On the Merkur Futur, is it easy to clean or is it a difficult process.. I'm also looking at cost because of my budget too. I live in the US. The other thing that got my attention was the Taylor of Old Bond Street. I like their products. Never have purchased TOBS. The Cost of TOBS on Amazon is nearly $20 (US). Is TOBS worth the $20 and how long does TOBS last for you?🤔🤔 I'll be awaiting your thoughts.. I enjoy your videos!! Keep up the amazing work! Todd

Yesterday, I enjoyed my gillette slim adjustable H1(1962) at setting no.9,8,4 with gillette platinum blade. Even setting no.9 and 8, it was safe smooth clean shave. What do you think the slim no.9 setting compare to merkur futur setting? And what's the attraction of the merkur futur? Merkur progress is more mild and safe adjustable than futur?
@PaulHFilms4 жыл бұрын
Sounds a nice shave that, the slim on 9, would be around 1 on the Futur, they feel very different too. I just loved the razor as soon as I seen it, always like solid heavy razors. The Progress is less aggressive, most of the safety aspect is down to the user really. Knowing it's aggression and respecting it. Many thanks, have a great week ahead :-)
@hoonshaver30474 жыл бұрын
PaulHFilms I seem to like purchasing following your favorites. Slim adjustable and even waiting Slim twist. ^ ^ If slim set 9 is around futur set 1, futur or aggressive modern razor accustomed shavers don't like slim adjustable because of its mildness in my opinion. Why are you always put slim adjustable as your favorite razor? I like slim adjustablle's mildness, and don't like or scare aggressive razors, but hesitate to recommend slim adjustable to general modern razor users.

Why do you always set that thing to 6? That is my razor of choice, and even with a weeks growth I've never taken it off setting 1! I am sure you using setting 6 is a macho thing, but that is (like I have said before) the equivalent of calling the fire brigade to put out a match! Leave it on setting 1 and surprise yourself. On setting 6 you could shave a member of ZZ Top without trimming his beard first! Looking forward to your next podcast with the Mercur Futur. Probably on setting 6 again because that is the most aggressive setting and you like it that way *facepalms*
