This entire scene is freaking hilarious. Speaking loudly while the lady is praying, Patsy getting on his knee to pray, Paulie’s face the entire time, the 50k number dropping like a bomb on Paulie, and the balls on the priest to extort the mafia lol.

Iirc the Vatican bank is used as a huge money washing bank for tons of mobsters, mostly the actual mob in Italy and Europe but def some from America. Takes a cut, then invests in various real estate etc. across the world. The church and the mob go very far back. I think this scene is based off the real parade where money is stuck to jesus or whatever in NYC (that one godfather two scene) that was (and still is) ran by the local mob crew basically.

@@Paulyford Christians don’t pray to a nativity scene. If you pray to and revere statutes as holy objects you make them into your idols. If you pray to Mary, put her image in tacky necklaces and put her statue on your front lawn and think she was without sin, a completely unbiblical concept, you pretty much treat her as a deity. If you worship God alone, you should pray to God alone.

AlbrechtDurer wow that’s some cool fan fiction. Even David Chase doesn’t know about that. 😂 I like to imagine Patsy had Tony whacked for killing his twin and telling Patsy to get over it. Patsy found out and agreed to have tony whacked. Patsy and New York came to the agreement that Phil Leotardo had to go but so did Tony. Two bosses gone so both family’s can rebuild. Paulie (not knowing Patsys involvement) most likely became Patsys underboss and Silvio would never be allowed to return alive because of his loyalty to Tony.
@thatsnotchocolat

@@Pochonesian Cool fanfiction? It was an extremely important plot point, why even bother with that storyline if not to add to the overall tension of the final episode that any minute now someone can kill Tony at such a vulnerable state. If I knew about it, David and the writers knew as well. You don't notice how much importance was placed on the Rusty hit? And how LC himself told Leotardo and Tony at the sit down that he seeks retribution? AJ in the final episode is working for Little Carmine's production company, that's how they know where Tony's locale is, the diner. Who walks into the diner same time as AJ? The hitman. In the season 6 opening AJ is referred to as "Ka, the only reliable guide through the land of the dead." He has a big mouth and is partially responsible for almost getting Tony killed in season 1 when he told Livia that Tony is meeting a therapist, it happens again in the final season. My theory also involves Patsy Parisi. I literally just said "someone told LC of Tony's part." But honestly who cares. the point of the ending is that there are many people out to kill Tony and he has cornered himself
@Pochonesian

AlbrechtDurer Calling me an idiot when I didn’t insult you? What a world we live in. And then deleting the comment, nice. David Chase the man who WROTE THE STORY said that he doesn’t know how Tony died or who did it. He said it doesn’t matter because Tony’s story was done. So get the fuck out of here. It could have been the Russian interior decorator or osama bin laden for all the fuck we know who had him hit. Yes you are right the rusty thing was a big deal but it’s not absolutely the cause.
