The "Willie Overhaul Thing" was Tony's first hit. He made his bones with that job. We see a flashback of it in another episode when they find out that Willie's (a bookie) body was discovered buried in a basement.

That scene you're referring to is literally from the same episode as this scene.

Amazing! At the end, Tony paid his own meal, rather than let Paulie handles that. Maybe this is because the stories about his father's affection to him Paulie told him during the dinner.

I love the way any interaction between the mobsters and ordinary civilians who have no idea who they are is emphasized -- people like the hotel clerk don't know who Tony is and they aren't concerned with what he wants or making him happy, and you can tell it low-key pisses him off. It's like the show is emphasizing that at the end of the day, these guys may be big fish in the pools they swim in, but out in the open ocean, nobody gives two shits about them.

Paulie's "16 year old hillbilly hewers" is the most underrated line of the series. Also, was that an ode to Goodfellas when Paulie says the cop gave him a smack? Similar to Tommy back talking the cop.and getting clocked.

nothing to do with goodfellas.

The significance of the $100 was that, just as his father gave $100 to the cop on behalf of Paulie, his son Tony is also giving $100 to once again pay for Paulie. Like father like son. That was Chase's way of signifying that Tony is going the path of his father.
