Amen to Andre’s comments about the phone!! I feel the same way. Put the phone down especially when you’re outside walking. All the mindless scrolling. So very true!! 🙏🏾

Sooo true! I've asked my 12 year old granddaughter to watch this. I hope that she does and that his message(s) resonate with her. When she would visit me for the summer, I would only let her have an hour a day on the phone and she didn't mind because she was busy being exposed to many other things; that was deep how he put it! I even got a chance to take her to NYC to see Frozen on Broadway so her heart should remember this entire education. I absolutely loved everything about this series...fantastic!!!

This video brought back so many memories for me as they were walking through Bushwick on Broadway Ave. I use to live next door to Andre on Gates Ave 7 years ago but didn't; realize it until I was moving and leaving NY. I use to see him walking the streets all the time with a camera around his neck and I went to one of his exhibits, where I met him, but right before I was about to move from Bushwick, I was coming home and he was sitting on his front stoop right next door from me. I loved Bushwick and he captures it well. I'm a photographer too so it would have been cool to have gotten to know him better while we lived next door to each other. This was really nice to watch. His work is amazing!

Really, really, really appreciate you for this one Paulie. It’s so hard for Black photographers to get love & shine on their work. Been a huge fan of Dre’s work for several years now and even got to shoot his portrait when I came to NYC in 2018. Keep doing your thing Paulie! Happy New Year, see you on the other side! 🎉

Photography of place over a decade, I love that and being able to look back and see how you took it say 10 years ago. It's not all about people walking into a shaft of light , although that's nice and I do like it and ive done it myself its not all there is on the street.

goddamn this was a great episode. i 100% understand why MacAndre would watch this over n' over. this dude seems to truly embody realness. to understand how special an opportunity is to shoot on set BTS stuff... but not losing the ability to recognize, and acknowledge, how street photography is what his soul needs? like. that's what's up.

“You need a little bit of seriousness to it. It can’t be all like, ‘oh we kickin’ it, having beers, like, photography is so fun!’” Definitely feel this way with a bunch of people on Instagram, they only do it for fun. I started doing it for fun but I just got back from a trip to Mexico with my family and I am astounded by how serious I was while taking some photos. There came a time in the three years that I’ve been shooting film that I stopped looking at my photos as just photos and it started to become my work. Work that I love and that I’m constantly trying to do more of. Being in the moment is definitely something to bask in. His mantra is super true. I missed a beautiful photo of my dad in Mexico because I waited too long and the moment passed me.

What really touched me about this Walkie Talkie is about how you represent yourself trhow photography cause sometimes you´re trying to copy someone you like and in this process you loose what you´re trying to portrait with your work. Always remember who you are because street photography is no more than how you see the world that surounds you
