After a torrid ordeal a few years ago when I missed my connecting flight by getting lost in Hong Kong airport, I decided for all future flights and connections to consider myself disabled and now receive wonderful wheelchair assistance, whereby the friendly staff whisk me through all the security checks and I now get VIP treatment with the wealthy folk as they wheel me out to my taxi! Funnily enough I got my one health pass march 14 without uploading the negative PCR test ,it was 3 days prior to boarding from Sydney to Cebu? I had no issues whatsoever entering Philippines. Just had to show all doc's at immigration on entry. It was a super smooth process for me ☺️

It really is good to be a Lawful Permanent Resident here since 2009. No onward tickets, no insurance, though I do have Phil-health, no expensive visa extensions. I so much prefer it here and have only visited the USA 3 times since 2009 for a month or two to visit relatives, friends and former coworkers. However, as a Philippine Permanent Resident, they do hit you with an "Exit Fee" and "Travel Tax of 2,850 and 1,476 pesos on the way out. Returning is free. So still, way more affordable.

I can relate to your ordeal. I got my antigen test within 24 hours , but the one health wanted my pcr test info because they hadn't updated to the new requirements. I just sent it in anyway, and it worked. Upon arrival, I had to show the one health pass like 5 different times and was never asked for my insurance papers. Lots of stress for no reason but made it through. I'm renting a car out of Manila for a couple of weeks and have a different stress test every day, but it's all good because I'm here. Thanks for sharing your information with those still planning on coming.

Hello Paul big fan first time I have commented. I also am not giving advice, but here is what I have done at checkin. Before covid I did extensive international business travel. Lufthansa was very strick on carryons and they cannot be over 7 Kg. so, I learned this trick. I walk up to the counter with my backpack on on my back and wheel two bags, to check but the trick is i push my carryon up under the counter so the agents cannot see the carryon. That normally takes care of it and away I go. Sometimes the agent asks do you have a carryon I say yes one carryon. I have gotten the cousin to your kid and he/she wants to weigh the carryon. I have next to nothing in the carry on because my backpack has over 15 Kg of 2 laptops and electronics. They never ask me to weigh the backpack. Walk away from the counter out of view and reload half my backpack into the carryon. In the old dogs words not giving advice just telling how I have handled it for years.

Two years ago I stumbled upon this guys channel and thought hey? I use to sell cars and found him to be very much like me and so I started watching all his videos. After COVID and his trip back and forth to the states NEVER! would I leave the best place on earth the place were everyone wants to come. Nah.. I was seriously thinking of taking my social security and moving to where I could live large for a small amount of money. But after the reopening and all the hoops they want to jump through now rather than buy a ticket and get on the plane…I pass. 😎

I came back to Manila March 4. I had many of the same experience as you although stressful not as stressful as yours. Any time you have to deal with Filipinos especially male this can occur. I try to stay lighthearted and tell myself “that’s the Philipines. “ I left from LAX as I assume you did. When I got off the plane I was exhausted. Then it took almost 3 hours of procedure before I finally got a taxi. Final thought: IT WAS WORTH IT!! I am living an old man’s fantasy in the Philippines. In USA I am invisible. Like I say see it as a comedy and tell yourself “only in the Philippines. “ I try to live every day. It’s a small price to pay for feeling alive.

My relative or friend normally take me to the airport If flying PAL and tell them to wait near the checkin counter until i get my boarding pass. If your carryon is more than 25 lbs have your relative or friend hang on to it until you are all checked in and get your boarding pass. At the gate often times they will weigh your hand carry before boarding and place a tag if you have not done so at the counter. Don’t do it. Just wait until your group is called and board the plane. By that time the weighing wont have time coz everyone is boarding. Also if you’re in economy maybe wise to get the exit row to have more leg room and easy access to go to the restroom without bothering passengers to let you pass especially if they’re sleeping. There is an extra charge to have those seats but worth it.

Arriving into Phuket was easy and even though there were a few steps to get out the airport it only took 30 mins. Please god we dont need to go through this again. Hi Paul, One Health Pass was a real pain , it had glitches , I got it done just as you did. I up graded to Business Class for the flight (PAL) , because I’m 6’ 2” and 215 lbs and didn’t want to be packed in a can like a dead fish, Philippines Airlines was wonderful in Business Class, I assisted a Handicapped Veteran that was sitting next to me the whole flight , what great person . We were escorted through every thing at Manila Airport and Customs just waived us right on through, and I mean just waived with a 😃 smile and I was sweating customs because I had electronics, five tablets, one laptop, four phones as personal items that were brought as gifts for my sister in law’s family that lost everything in the typhoon earlier this year.. Got to Love The Philippines , you never know what to expect. I left the attitudes at home. Enjoy More in The Philippines Salamat..

I was just in Cebu from early April to early May 2022. You can complete the One Health Pass Philippines as soon as you're inside of 3 days from departure date. You can fill out everything except for your COVID test data. And at that point it will just tell you "not fully vaccinated." Once you have the test results and you fill that in it will say "fully vaccinated." So doing the One Heath Pass earlier it will save you some rushing. Also, do the One Health Pass on a landline personal computer. It's impossible to do it on a cell phone. Next...that's right! Departing the US for the Philippines it's either: no more than 48 hours before with the PCR test or no more than 24 hours before with the Rapid Antigen test. If your flight time is during the normal business hours of a testing facility, you can make an appointment and get tested just inside of 24 hours or just inside of 48 Hours of your departure time one or two days later. But if you have a night flight that is outside of laboratory hours, you're only choice to be tested is the morning of your flight with a Rapid Antigen test. And in that case it's better if your flight is later in the day so that you have plenty of time in the morning to get tested and get the rapid result, which you should be able to get in 15 minutes. I suggest the first appointment in the morning at a testing facility. If your rapid test is positive, then to fly you must get a PCR test. And you can get the result within 1 hour if they have the lab on site but you're going to pay a little over $100 for that. So you know when you're leaving the US and going to the Philippines it's either 48 hours or 24 hours from your departure time and you have to be inside those hours. That is what the Philippines specifies. BUT, when returning to the USA from the Philippines, the USA does not specify 48 hours or 24 hours. It's specifies "no more than one calendar day before the departure date." And another places you will see "no more than one day before the departure date." If you have a new young kid at the counter he/she might interpret that as 24 hours. But it's not. It's one calendar day. So have a saved pdf or screenshot of a USA web page that says "One calendar day." For the travel insurance I just paid $89 bucks to get $100,000 worth for the one month I was just in Cebu. I am surprised about one thing. They didn't check the COVID regulations for entering Vietnam or Thailand or whatever your onward ticket was for. Because if you weren't satisfying the onward country's regulations from the beginning, that means you could get stuck in the Philippines and be their problem, because maybe they won't even let you get on the plane to go to your onward country. But that's about it. Your experience was really similar to mine 😂😂😂 I will say that I was never tested formally for COVID until the day of my flight departing the USA, and then the day before I returned to the USA. I had a home self test that I used one day before each of those flights to calm my nerves. Thanks for your sharing Paul. I really enjoy your videos!

I usually fly PAL but it seems other airlines from hearing experiences on YT are NOT so technical or difficult so i will opt for another airline and endure the layover.

Great video Paul and thanks for sharing. I'll be heading back to the PHILIPPINES on April 24th since leaving Oct 2019. My fly is at 11AM so I scheduled my covid test at 3 PM the day before. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. I'll be getting to the airport very early just in case. Hope to meet you and Baby Mae someday.

I have been writing on your site for 2 years about my intended trip to the Philippines. I've just reviewed my plans "I'm not going" although financially things are quite good for me. I'll stay in Australia. People also going to Thailand where I have been often are telling stories as bad as your experience or even worse with airlines and things have improved a bit but not quite so bad with immigration. But now worse with airlines.
