John is tougher than the naysayers gave him credit. Many a man would have buckled under similar circumstances. Two strokes on record and still plugging on? He’s a hero in my book. Thank you Paul for bringing the human being that you are. It’s the Christian creed to look out for others and you are holding up your end of the bargain. 🙏🏻

I'm so happy that John returned! - Please watch out for your partner's family. They treated you like crap when you ran out of money. Wishing you the best of luck moving foreword. Peace brother.

I’m so delighted to hear John’s life has turned around for him and that his life is coming together. My Childrens grandfather lived (there in his mid 40’s) married a Filipina lady and had children. I remember that when times were hard, they were really hard for him. He died a wealthy man but his stories of the tough times at the beginning, were always his party piece at family gatherings. It’s a tough tough life if there’s no cash left. Well done to everyone who showed compassion and empathy for his plight and a huge well done to John for doing what had to be done in the end. It must have been really tough for him to leave his family but it’s all part and parcel of having no food if you have no work. His plight was no different from the thousands of Filipina women who leave their children at home and go over to Hong Kong to work (to send money back.) I admire those women so much. The moral of Johns story? Sometimes we have to do things we don’t want to do, so that our family can survive. I always say: There but for the grace of God, go I. I’m truly thankful for my modest life and I’m very happy that Johns life seems to be back on track. Thank you for posting this. ❤❤❤

I will tell you this Paul, I am truly glad that you retold this story about John. I am a "Pre-John" future expat that is looking for a way to make it to the Philippines. I am just turning 53, and I have decided that I want to look into moving there, as I am sure millions of others, but I am doing it. We hear about the successes of men my age, and the failures. There also is a blueprint and tons of information on KZbin with videos and vlogs about what to do, and what not to do before arriving. Also tons of information about what to do once you arrive and work on getting settled in. I haven't seen much with video vlogs and series about the journey being told, other then these recounting of individuals once they made it or not. Has anyone seen a channel, or vlog series that might help, inspire, or be a cautionary tale of someone who dreams of an early crossing and settling as an expat? One that doesn't have large sums of money, or have an established remote job. Another beautiful aspect of the Philippines, aside from its people and majestic islands, is this extraordinary expat community! Yes there are quite a few bad actors, and others that might take the community off the list from being anointed into sainthood, but it is a strong and diverse one. Why wouldn't, myself, and countless others wish to become part of this brotherhood. I will be visiting several times beforehand, but as of right now, I am set, and working towards my own blueprint. But I hope to see if there is a niche that I could find about a first person ongoing story, or maybe create one?? Regardless, John, my brother, you are an inspiration of what a true Man amongst men. I pray for you, and your family, and hope that this will inspire others, that might be heading down that possible road in life, as to 'Man Up', own your your mistakes, take responsibility, and persevere in regards to you, your family, and your dream here in the Philippines. Awesome story, and awesome channel Paul. Thank you,

Hello Paul, I am so proud of John and of you, and I hope that you will feel some pride in yourself. You have been a great friend and mentor for him and for many others, including myself. I have followed John's story here with you since the beginning. I am retiring and plan to visit the Philippines for 6 months beginning in August of this year. I hope to meet you at some point during that trip. I will reach out to you when the time gets closer. Good luck to you in all you do, and please keep up the fantastic work that you are doing!

Impressive. He's doing the right thing. But like everyone knows and said, the real heroes are you and the rest of the rescue team. Great story.

I'm happy to hear about John's life improving. I admit his story triggered me in ways that embarrass me now. I hope things continue to improve for John and his family. Everyone deserves to be happy.

You and john are great humans. All the nasty coments come from cowards and selfish people. I've been in that situation and completely understand .Bravo for both of you.
