@@PaulKirkFiddle As I'm sure you know, there are so many versions of this tune. I prefer the upbeat versions like yours but they're all interesting. One version is by some sort of chamber quartet. They're college kids I believe. One's a cellist. It's kind of a somber tune but very melodious. This version kind of makes you realize that a lot of pioneers perished on the road through Cumberland Gap.

i could be wrong here but you guys seems to be playing in D and I always thought C-Gap was a C tune. Also sounds like A=440. Help?

Hi Rich, I don't know a version of Cumberland Gap in C, but I do know a less-common version in G.standard. This one here is a festivalized version based on Tommy Jarrell's Tumblin Gap which is in D (high bass tuning), and is probably the version most commonly played today. Tommy didn't play that B part, only two parts. Cheers
