You got some gorgeous shots of the tit family (my favourites!). Beautiful photography and footage. Enjoyed this one so much, and as always you managed to make me grin (re the dog wearing pyjamas!). Your focussing issues and the comment about your specs steaming up - how I empathise with both! (Be thankful you don't have a Fujifilm camera like I have, by the way.... 🤨 )

Cheers. Isn't it just wonderful? And I'm so glad I made the effort (I was never not going to...) By midday most of this snow had gone. I got out early and got it done. Often the case in the UK.

I'm very familiar with this location and the birds are very tame - and the squirrels a bit familiar! I've got some great intimate shots over the last couple of years, by sitting next to the tree stump with a macro lens. I even had a blue tit feeding out of my hand in that clearing.

Impressive video, Paul Miguel Photography. Looking forward to your next upload. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your tips on using extension tubes for close focus are really insightful. How do you find the balance between depth of field and capturing motion in such dynamic environments?
@PaulMiguelPhotography
@PaulMiguelPhotography Ай бұрын
many thanks. it does reduce depth of field a bit, and higher shutter speeds are harder to achieve. I only think it's necessary for birds about blue tit sized or smaller - but not essential, if you're happy to crop down instead

How close the 25mm extension tube allows you to shoot? Also is there any other pro or con on using that combination?
@PaulMiguelPhotography
@PaulMiguelPhotography Ай бұрын
I've never got a proper measurement. I mostly use it for blue tit sized birds or smaller. The main problem is losing about a stop of light. Also it can cause vignetting.

Well, Paul, you had a good idea about putting out feed to attract the birds. Too bad the bush tail rats and the flying rats ruined it for you. I have had so many good bird sets with perfect backgrounds ruined this fall by bush tailed warblers that I've almost begun to hate them.

Hi Paul a quick video request from myself can you make an up to date video on exposure compensation when to use it and how to use it properly I’m having massive struggles with photographing birds in the sky and sat in trees etc they keep coming out like black dots and under exposed really frustrating I need help

@ mainly just learning how to expose a bird properly mine are terrible I took a few photos of a kestrel hovering in the sky would have been amazing photos but the bird is either black or too white I’m struggling with how to expose a bird correctly weather it’s sitting in a tree or flying and I know a lot of people use exposure compensation to counter the difficulties
