Paul: Courtney and Kevin deciding to release this single ahead of the upcoming album was kind of a last-minute thing. There's no traditional "video" yet, but that will be coming. The images here are from the photoshoot for the album cover that Courtney did last week.

Ok awesome!! Thank you for the info!

This is the first song I can think of where Courtney has included something openly personal in the lyrics -- near the end she describes herself as "a little bit of Tina, a little bit Aretha." Hard to give a better self-description.

Disagree😊 Jagged is an awesome new song, maybe more mature and accurate but all Courtz original songs talk about herself and real feelings( "This girl doesn't lives here","Breakable,"Monsters").She's brilliant on lyrics...Unique Courtz!!!
@prakaklef3 ай бұрын
@@Pere1966... True, all of Courtney's songs are personal in a sense but many listeners identify with them. Nobody listening thinks they're a little bit Tina little bit Aretha unless Janis is looking down and rockin' out, so in another sense it's personal specifically to her in a way I haven't heard before either.

Hi Paul. Very cool reaction as always. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I don't know what more to say about Courtney. IMO, she is the most dynamic artist in music today, and there isn't even a close second. Jagged is just spectacular. Vocally Courtney does things other artists can only dream of doing.. She is just pure talent, on so many levels, and pure energy. She's going to blow the roofs off of so many arenas before she is done. The first thing every one has said when they heard this is can you imagine Courtney singing this song live. It would be insane. Also, listen to 'Jagged' a few more times and pay attention to the lyrics (there is a lyric video on YT). Courtney is such a powerhouse as a songwriter, and it's never fluff. Always so much depth and meaning to her lyrics, and every original always has a few lines that could be considered instant classics. So funny that you talked about her being infused with spirit of the all time greats, because you may not have caught it, but she does pay tribute to Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin towards the end of this song. She just confirmed on a live chat today that there would be a video coming with this song, but it would likely be nothing extravagant. She also confirmed that this song would not be on her upcoming album, so this was just a magnificent freebie she dropped. All I can say is, if this song didn't make the album, can you imagine how magnificent those are that did make it. She has shared clips of so many album candidates, and they all have been sensational. Her album is going to be epic.

And as soon as the album comes out, she's going to focus on the details of her tour.

If I understand correctly, I think Courtney and Kevin both started having second thoughts last week, wondering "Why was it we didn't put 'Jagged' on the album?" And then it occurred to one of them, "So why not just put it out as a single right now?"
@edwarddevogelear44323 ай бұрын
@@Daniel-un5mp It’s possible, but I have no idea. Courtney said on her live chat that they had to cut a song from the album, just due to length, and there were a couple of others somewhat similar to Jagged, so Jagged was the one cut. They then just decided to drop it.

Thanks for the reaction, Pharoah! Yes! Can't wait to see this live on her tour!!!! A visualizer video is one artists sometimes release with music, before a more elaborate, "official" video is available to accompany their song. It's is a simplistic visual; from very short clips of the artist, to colorful animations, etc. It allows them to release a song on YT before the official vid is available so they can get it out to the masses quicker, and not have to use a boring, static graphic for the video.

Paul, she does perform this with a young five piece band and released it TODAY (11/18/24). I almost caught the exact moment. That is exactly what she did-rock out. It was totally electric!!!!!! Find it and check it out. She has a lyric version which is better, but the LIVE is by far the best.

Since you're a big Courtney fan, you'll probably find this interesting: Courtney plays it VERY close to the vest on letting out any information on her upcoming album. So when she announces (as she did on Oct. 21) that "Next week I'm going down to London and I'll have something for you guys on KZbin," you have to read between the lines. I *believe* she is saying she's shooting a music video for one of her new songs.

Paul, I've got a video of Courtney that I'd love to see your reaction to. It's from WAY back in the past. It says 2016, but I have reasons to believe it was recorded in late 2015. Either way, she's 11 years old here. This is nearly 3 years before AGT. She's singing Elvis's "Can't Help Falling In Love With You." Even this far back, you can watch the shy little girl (hurrying through her intro, looking down, suppressing giggles) turn into a different person when the music starts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bl6VnZ-AoJVnq5o One word of warning: Be sure to hold onto your socks. This will knock them off.
