For the record, animals have always been used by humans for all sorts of needs and luxuries such as food, clothing, etc. This has been going on long even before the great pyramids were even made. Think about it, ethnic tribes, royals, regular people of the past,they all used animals. Some literally wear wolves. And I'm pretty sure it was more brutal back in time. At least now, everything has modernized and all companies have already taken measures to remain as humane as possible.

It's a good video, but also a bit misleading. Goodyear welting is done by machine in a two-step process, to first attach the welt strip, the upper, and the rib of the insole together; and the second to attach the welt to the sole. The welt ties it all together. Yes, it's done by hand... a hand using a machine. What was shown here is hand stitching using a braided stitch often found in Norvegese, Bentivegna, and Goyser constructed shoes. Since this shoe has a welt (the thin leather strip shown at 7:02) this is a hand-welted shoe. There's nothing Goodyear about it. The only industrial process used was the sewing machine to attach the pieces of the upper. To see a Goodyear welt done there are many videos here. Select one from a Goodyear machine maker rather than a shoe maker to see the real deal. To hand sew a shoe as shown here takes a few hours. To sew a shoe using a Goodyear welting machine takes a few seconds.
@TodaysSpecialMinis7 жыл бұрын
to be fair - he did say using the Goodyear welt "technique." Which means the hand stitching has the same look as the machines welted effect.
@frunkytowntesla6 жыл бұрын
Goodyear welting can and is done BY HAND in high end shoe companies, like Paul Parkman. STOP USING WIKIPEDIA AS YOUR ONLY SOURCE OF INFORMATION!!!!!! OMG!!! You can watch him actually sewing the goodyear welt stitch BY HAND!!!!!! I hate it when people who will never afford a pair of hand made shoes thinks that they are fucking experts because they googled wikipedia!!!!! And using other youtube videos to prove your point? God damn, I bet you flunked out of school SO HARD!!!!! Fine! You want youtube videos to back up your point? Suck on these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWXGmoChd8-knMU kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHm6fZRti5enlac kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6OUq4Fsa7-leJY kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKLSYYWAr9mMgLs etc..... Here is a simple search result of videos, dipshit: kzbin.info?search_query=goodyear+welt+by+hand Oh yeah, and this very video shows him sewing a goodyear welted stitch by hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not sure if you are lazier than you are dumb, or the other way around...

Damn Richard you are acting like a dick, the guy may be wrong but you are so harsh on him. Calling him "dipshit" and co, I am sure at the second line this guy stopped to read your message. I you want to teach people something better be nice than acting like that.
@afreeman19804 жыл бұрын
@@frunkytowntesla You are correct, though a bit blunt. Goodyear welting can be done by hand. I've repaired several pairs of shoes and I'm not a cobbler but have done a lot of leatherwork. I have replaced the insole, rewelted, recorked, resoled and rehealed my own shoes many times. I have 3 pairs of shoes that are over 50 years old and still going strong. It takes a very long time without machinery but my sewing gets neater and neater every time.
