Greetings Paul from the US. I wish we had the problem UK is having being cool. We in most of the US are in heat wave. Here in Kentucky, it has not rained in a month. It's been around 90-95 degrees with high humidity every day for the past two weeks. Needless to say, our lawns are starting to brown, and my garden is not looking its best right now. My garden tasks lately are just watering every morning. Your garden is so beautiful and looks so peaceful and tranquil in the evening light. Thank you for the tour of your garden. Happy growing, James

@@paultsworld Sounds like paradise. I have to run my A/C usually from April through October here. If I go outside right now, it's like stepping into a sauna at 6:30 in the evening. The humidity is 80% today. Summers are usually not this extreme in Kentucky. I just hope this unusual spell ends soon. Take care Paul.

Happy Summer Solstice!!! 🌞🌻 Your garden is really shaping up for Summer! Didn’t recognise that white hydrangea!! What a transformation!! 😮 You’re so great with cuttings, they all seem to turn into amazing whopping specimens in no time…are you actually a wizard?? 🧙🏻‍♂️ I’ve suddenly got (in the last 2 years) wild rambling (briar?) roses scrambling through several shrubs and going up an ash tree. They’re a delight. I like the idea of scrambling things through things. I’ve no room for clematis unless I do this scrambling - through - something - else thing. I’m going to try it. I planted some vinca major years ago, it’s gone nuts, it pops up everywhere, strangling adjacent plants, it’s like the neighbour FROM HELL!! 😱🤦🏻‍♀️

Good Morning Paul, Ahhhh that was a relaxing garden tour, thanks for taking us along, especially those of us whose gardens are dormant right now. Your garden is delightful. Ooooooo I loved the golden brunneria, I didn't know about those! I want one! I can obtain Jack Frost here and I need more in my woodland garden. You should replay the section where you are going to "TIDY UP" the philadelphus in the front, you sound like a mafia boss. RUN philly RUN ! I hate vinca, previous people planted it and we have been battling it for 9 years. We had a major assault on it earlier in the year, a solid day of digging, and it's back. Be careful encouraging the campanula, ours went like the vinca. Don't move it anywhere else. Don't be conned by the pretty purple flowers!!
@paultsworld
@paultsworld 3 ай бұрын
Good evening Margaret, interesting what you say about campanulas - mine are really well behaved - maybe they find my soil difficult. However I’ll keep an eye on them in case they turn on me and join forces with the vinca tribe. Yes, get some brunnera - also easy to split and sometimes self seed. Generally left alone by the slugs - except this year 🐌. I was going to replay the Philly massacre but my editing time was short. It would be flowering better but a deutzia has claimed the airspace so the trimmers are coming out again 😂 - in favour of Philly - she deserves it. 🌸

Thanks for the tour of your stunning garden. Isn't it funny how we all pronounce differently the names of our plants? I asked for a Weigela at a garden centre yesterday as I couldn't find any and the man called it Why Ghee La. I'd not heard that before. Did you have the heavy hailstorm last week? My garden was completely white and it looked like it had been snowing. It's supposed to be flaming June. Some days have felt like flipping November!
@paultsworld
@paultsworld 3 ай бұрын
The other pronunciation I’ve heard is ‘why gee lya. I struggled with heuchera 😀 and always think twice on how to spell it. No, totally missed the hailstorm - heard a bit of thunder and that was it. Bet your plants weren’t impressed with ‘freezing water’ - my tropicals aren’t bothering growing this year 😆.

@@putuandplants hi! That’s a good question! It flops very quickly if it hasn’t rained for a few days and I spend so much time watering it that I can’t keep up. The leaves droop and look bad. In early Spring when we have more rain it looks lovely. I think the soil is really poor where it is with lots of tree and hedge roots competing for moisture. I suppose wrong plant in the wrong place.

Hello Helen, those Scottish Summer days - fabulous! I’ve spent many a June day in Scotland - usually taking pictures of your magnificent castles. Standing at Eileen Donan castle waiting for an illuminated dusk picture and it wouldn’t go dark! Enjoy the warm weekend 🌸

Hi Paul, I love the Drummondii Maple, not come across that before. Too large for my small garden thought. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the Hydrangeas in flower. I love the honey colored Heucheras too. 😊😊😊

Hi Pauline, it’s easy to keep deciduous trees clipped back. I grew an oak tree in my back garden from an acorn. 😆 I’m going to keep it manageable. Hydrangeas will look good - watch this space!🌻

Thank you for the video. Absolutely gorgeous. Your cuttings are wonderful, i wish i could do cuttings as well.

Thank you so much. Try rooting cuttings in 100% vermiculite - wet thoroughly and place in the shade in a covered plastic box that has holes in the base. Leave it for three weeks maybe spray with a fine spray once or twice and quickly replace the lid. Good luck.

Great garden tour Paul. The hydrangea cuttings I took after watching one of your videos have taken really well. I’ve got 5 new ones now. I’ve repotted them into bigger pots and one has got little flower buds on. Should I cut these off at this stage and when would you suggest I put them in the ground? Thanks
@paultsworld
@paultsworld 3 ай бұрын
That is great - isn’t it satisfying getting new plants like that! I think you could cut off the new bud although in the long run it probably doesn’t matter. If they have good roots filling the new pot then yes, you could put them in the ground - make sure they don’t go dry over the Summer. 👍

I love your garden so much Paul. It is truly exquisite. I am trying to create a privacy border too, but on one fence my husband and I are trying to get rid of our bamboo! Thank you for sharing it.

Such a shame bamboo can end up a problem because it makes a great privacy screen.

Beautiful looking garden, its the bees knees. The only shrubs we have in our garden are hebes, parahebes and fuchsias growing in big pots.

Thank you for the tour, Paul. Your garden looks great and I do like the way you talk to the camera and guide us around it. Here, in central Europe, we have had a heatwave this week, with occasional storms. Another thunderstorm is on its way. Due to the weather (and the fertiliser) my garden has changed into a jungle!

I do like the jungle ‘look’ Jolanta although it can take a bit more managing. It’s probably very humid as well so your plants are loving it! I’m pleased you like the video style - I talk slowly to give me time to remember the names of the plants 😆

Good morning 😊 Your trees look healthy and robust! Do hummingbirds visit your hostas bloom for their nectar? Omg, your hydrangeas are in bloom. I love plants that self seed, too. You have beautiful weather. As always, I very much enjoy your beautiful garden. Thank you for sharing your videos 😊 Have a great day, Paul.😊

Thank you Maria - so glad you enjoy my videos. I would so love to have hummingbirds visit - however they are a North American bird - so none here in Europe, but I love hearing how they visit hosta flowers. Have a lovely weekend. 🌸
