I've been doing bent-arm crow to handstand for over a year now, and had not thought of most of these variations, so thank you! I tend to do these presses every day, which seems to be alright, as long as I never exaggerate on volume, and always balance it with a pulling exercise. Any video you could make about how often to train this kind of stuff would be appreciated.

Great! Have a play and let me know how you go. I’ll definitely do a video on program design soon

@@PaulTwyman I only recently discovered your channel, it's amazing!! I am working toward planche, still early days with weighted dips, handstand push-ups against a wall, and a 15-second tuck planche. Really needed some good transition exercises and you came through and then some. Thanks again.

Hey Paul Love your content. Even though a lot of it is above my current level, I still get a lot of inspiration from your lessons. I'm currently working towards the bent arm press to HS. Is it possible to do a tutorial on it? I'm interested in learning what you reccomend as great exercises and progressions. I can do multiple sets of 12-15" bent arm tuck holds but I have no idea how to straighten my back to get to a straight body BA stand. i'm still working on a comfortable 20s free HS so I'll have to perform negatives against the wall. You usually cover these moves within different levels of handstand proficiency, so I'm curious to see how you'd perform these correctly. Looking forward it!

Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the content. Do you have an example of the movement you’re talking about? Is it similar to the Shoulderstand in this video? kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHfZo6mlfb-ke68

@@PaulTwyman Thanks for your quick response :). From shoulderstand on parallettes and a headstand it's quite easy. It doesn't take that much strength. I mean a 90° bent arm tuck stand on the floor with the face just hovering above the floor. So the lowest position of a HSPU on the floor but in a tucked position. I guess it's down to getting more comfortable in the bent arm stand and gradually trying to open up the body. I was actually curious as to what you'd recommend as good exercises to work up towards the BA press. I'm doing BA tuck holds (with 90° elbows) and elevated pike push ups as my main exercises.

Hi, I can do a good bent and straight arm crow also one leg bent. When i try to raise both legs my back goes down. I cannot elevate the back o maintain it up why?

Your probably lacking some conditioning or strength in the upper back/shoulders. Or it could be your hips are to low and when you lift you move backwards instead of up. Video from the side and should see the seesaw movement with connection between the shoulders and hips. Getting stronger in tuck planche, press and handstand push up drills will unlock it for most people

@paultwyman I have been training for HSPU for 8 months now and can complete sets of 5-7 reps CTW and have been training partial freestanding. Would you say this skill would help with HSPU training? I find the eccent6is easier than the concentric part and want to know what I can do to strengthen the concentric phase. Thanks for all your quality content.

Yes definitely this would help for HSPU. Use momentum to start with and then slowly reduce the speed

how can i train my back without doing deadlifts. i feel like having ang strong lower back really could help this skill.
@PaulTwyman2 жыл бұрын
For back conditioning specifically for this movement I’d do Skin the Cat (pulling back out of the skin the cat) and L sit to Shoulderstand

i can`t lift off my feet in a crow position. i guess i`m comming back next month...or two...

Regular practice of crow should unlock it quite quickly. Video yourself from the side and it should be quite evident what you need to fine tune
