I learned a trick with editing your themes on the fly. I will prepare an update to this video to include it but if you change the settings of the object style you will see a little icon next to the object style if you wish to update your theme to that new change.

That is a cool feature, although you have to remember that whatever style adjustments you make and update on the fly will cascade to everything using that same style in your project. Which might look good on your current slide, but not others. 👍🏼

@@rebell570 I think if you use the different styles consistently you'll be fine. I.e. titles are the same, subtitles etc (not the way Adobe has used them in the same projects).

Hi Pau. Thank you for all the videos you make. I am using Adobe Captivate v.12.3.0. When I created my theme, I changed all the fonts to our branded front style. Then closed captioning on my grid video defaults to Georgia. I am having to change the font to my branded font for each closed caption section from the Georgia default. I was hoping it would automatically default to one of the theme fonts. Have you seen this behavior in Captivate 12?

Yes. The theme editor is incomplete, in my opinion. Please click on the Help drop-down menu and provide feedback to Adobe to improve this. Question feedback captions are like this, as well as others that can’t be saved as part of the theme. The more of us who provide this feedback, the sooner it should be corrected.

I have just been given the free reign to build the first course in the New Captivate to go Live and I feel like this has got to be the first place to start. However, there are so many color options and adjustments I wish I could just import styles from a Captivate 19 course and adjust from there. Is that an option?

After previewing a published project in SCORM Cloud, Cp 12.3 doesn't appear to embed custom system fonts added to the theme editor. (what's the freak'n point of giving you that option at all if the fonts won't publish! 🤬) Anyway... I know how to do the custom font CSS hack in Classic Cp, but I can't seem to find diddly squat about any similar hack for Cp 12.3. Are the Google fonts that come with Cp 12.3 the only ones that will currently embed / publish?

You can use the 70 or so Google fonts because Google maintains web versions that can be called from the published project. They are free and completely available to anyone. There are some system fonts you can use, namely what are known as web safe fonts but it's a short list. Here is a guide to web safe fonts: www.w3schools.com/cssref/css_websafe_fonts.php What makes them web safe is that these are system fonts found on almost every computer or mobile device in the world. For example, Arial is on every Windows machine, which is probably in the billions of users so no need to install it on people's computers.

How do I install new fonts from Google Fonts? I've been googling and searching but having no luck. Adobe's documentation and tutorials leave a lot to be desired. Any recommendations?

As far as I'm aware, you only have access to the 70 Google fonts that come with Adobe Captivate.

Paul, is there a way to edit/build individual slides to fit the theme? for example, the title and image slide is always the same three things, can i customize this to fit the theme i intend to build? Thank you!

Hi Paul, my whole team at work really appreciates your videos as they've really helped us figure out Captivate 2019. We all got to be pros at the software simulations in the 2019 version but are really struggling with the software simulation functionality in the new update. We're finding if we have a highlight box and a click box enabled, the click box is then disabled in the output and when we go back into the project to disable the highlight box, we get an error message. Have you heard anything about updates coming for this? Thanks!

No, I've only played around with sims for less than an hour. I expect to be using Cp Classic for this for the foreseeable future until I figure sims out completely in the new version. Make sure you give lots of feedback to Adobe through the option in the help menu or email them at [e-mail].

Unless there will be a specific feature that supports this in the future there is not. My advice would be to make the logo part of a background image. I might show this in a future video.

I was wondering if there is any way for users to create custom blocks in the new Captivate (text blocks, media blocks)? Since we can't change the layout of the default blocks (to ensure the content remains fully responsive), I was thinking it would be great if there's a way to create one's own set of blocks to reuse throughout a project. This would clearly be a great feature if possible.

My understanding is that this is coming through the form on JSON files, but I don't have any details yet. This new release will be constantly evolving.

I was kind of hoping too that they would've included a basic click and drag page builder - similar to what most non-coding webpage builders have. Where you could start with blank CSS grid or flex box-like layouts that you simply drag text, image, and other components into. Instead of the canned blocks.

I would save any themes you created so you can import them again if necessary.

Have you tested the output of custom system fonts yet? Do they display correctly on other people's browsers who don't have that font installed? I think classic Cp still has that issue as well.

System fonts wont display correctly. You will need to use fonts that are either web sourced like the Google fonts or web safe fonts like Arial, Times New Roman, Trebuchet, and so on. Because Adobe Captivate 12 is responsive design it doesn't convert your text blocks into images and renders them as actual fonts.
