This is so sad. I loved Richard Simmons. I always loved seeing him on television. And I already grieved Richard when he stepped away from public life, and became a recluse. Because I was always excited to see him. And now we're all grieving. My first exposure to Richard was when he voiced the fitness instructor on the cartoon Rocko's Modern Life. Then I later discovered that he was a real person. And he always just came across as so loving and genuine. Actually caring about people.

@SuperSuzyg23 күн бұрын
He's an awful person. He had asked Richard's blessing on the biopic in the beginning, saying he would respect Richard's wishes. Well he DIDN'T. Even worse, he had the attitude several weeks ago, "I don't care if Richard likes it or not--I'm doing it." Richard was going to his own thing with an upcoming Broadway play. Sadly, that won't happen now. Pauly Shore is disgusting.

There was much speculation about Richard Simmon's personal life away from the spotlight. I could never figure out what difference it made if he was gay or straight because he did so much good in the world. He was always kind to his fans and seemed to love everyone no matter who they were or where they were on their lives' journey. He gave hope to the hopeless and he did it without promoting fad diets, dangerous weight loss drugs or unrealist exercise programs. Instead, he gave people a diet and exercise program that was common sense, that could be sustained not just until they lost the weight, but for a lifetime. He also encouraged people to love themselves enough to make themselves happy. People cracked jokes about his "Sweating' to the Oldies" and "Deal-a-meal" but they were brilliant weight loss tools for people desperate to lose weight and become healthy, who were maybe so obese that they lost hope. He gave them a new lease on life. There's a special place for this wonderful man in heaven.

He’s one of the first people I remember seeing show intense compassion to extremely obese people on television. He interviewed with a woman on some show (Oprah maybe, )she came on, and she could barely walk. The first thing he said is look at your beautiful nails, and he took her hand. It’s stuck with me because I thought the first impulse he has is to make somebody feel good about themselves in whatever capacity he could. Then he tried to help them. I’m sorry he’s gone.
