I guess I have 2 best friends named Pavel now!!! My mann, FINALLY, someone who breaks this process down in an easy to understand format! On top of that, I am going to use Molicel's so that made it even more confusing, UNTIL NOW BRO! I can finally, confidently build my battery for my bike. Even though it may be apparent, it's worth noting that you save ssoooo much building these at home. God bless you 🙏🏽 for taking an extraordinary amount of time for the rest of us who want to learn. Let me be clear, I have watched 20 videos and none of them were remotely close to what you've done here! Not even a contest. Please keep doing what you are doing!!! Definitely a battery you can be proud of. It was great to see you soldering properly too and the reason the solder alloys better with the nickel when you sand it, is because you've removed the surface oxidation.
@PavelGarmas4 жыл бұрын
Paul , Thank you so much mate! Appreciate your lovely comment. Regarding the scratching of the nickel, i think it does increase the surface of the grip at the same time as removing the film...acid does clean the surface but scratching makes the bond even better.
@Paul014 жыл бұрын
@@PavelGarmas I appreciate the effort, it's great to see some taking the time to show people how to do a proper job. Yes I'm sure the scratches will help strengthen the bond, if you sand the nickel and leave it a few days before soldering, you'll probably find its hard to solder again though. Although I wouldn't recommend it to others, I use the same technique to solder li-ion cells without putting heat into them.

Great video. When I build my batteries I would use masking tapes to cover all the connections that I am not working on to insure that nothing accident touch and could short the battery. I once dropped a strip of nickel on the battery and it caused a short.

Hi Pavel thank you for the comprehensive tutorial. What is the brand or model of the spot welder you using? I do work in electronics 28 year and I can see the battery is well built. One more important suggestion for you. When you run the bms ballance charging cables please don’t trust them too to run them next to each other. Keep each apart in case of mosfet shortage that lead to igniting this tiny cables so they don’t cook together. I will also check each current withdrawal and add fuses on each of the line. You need to add also an extra fuse for the output too in case of shorting the output so it’s easy if the fuse gone rather than the internal lion sheets that are winded start melting. With batteries always the best is to go for the expensive one due to manufacturing precision. I know you mentioned this on the video where you spoken about the parts for battery building. Once again thank you for your good work.

Hi, Thank you for watching and for the comment. Your recommendations are taken on board. The spot welder i am using is K-weld. Here is a review if interested - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ2wl4uVlrV1aqc

Hey Pavel thanks for your super detailed video. One thing I see when it comes to raw lifepo4 cell battery pack building videos is i havent seen anyone go over how to top balance a LARGE amount of raw cells (100+) without any battery terminal fixtures (basically the cells you used). Im actually in the middle of building my own custom pack made of 288 battery cells, so I need to build my own custom battery holder for top balancing (since I can't spot weld for that). If that is something you had to do im sure others including myself would love to see how you did that :) Thanks and all the best!

Thank you for watching and for the comment. Unfortunately, i only used 18650 and 21400 cells and used spot welding.

Finally got round to watching this and it's pretty awesome to be fair mate. I'm not planning on building my own pack soon, but I will be getting one made early next year. This video helped me a lot with little details I wasn't sure about like a suitable BMS. I never really understood BMS' properly at all actually. Now I know for sure a charge only BMS is perfect for what I need and a smart BMS is very much what I need as I'm really interested in monitoring the health of the individual cells. But if I ever do make my own pack, this is the video I will be following. Much respect!

Much better intro and quick health and safety. I like the beats too. More than enough as a safety feature to protect you and your channel and also for us to think first before attempting. Great stuff! I'll make a cuppa, and now I'll be quiet. Listen and learn. Thanks Pavel. I might contact you in the future with an idea I have ;-)

At 37 minutes you have the two packs side by side, what dangers would there be if you accidentally touched them together? When doing your build in this video, what must we NOT do to make sure we are working safely? I like the series connection you made. I thought about pre-soldering it and then welding it but there is not enough space, so a double layer and the way you wrapped it around is a clever idea and super strong with excellent flexibility.

Am looking to build another board next year but this time with an ion pack. Exactly whats needed for first timers who are looking to build one, Can be very off putting as the results can be deadly. So its nice to have this bible to refer back to. Well done for the efforts on this vid mate. I know it will be heavily used by many out there. A++
