gold coins move quickly and has high turnover in his shop he needs consistent inventory so its a good deal. He will probably have a buyer within a few weeks or a a few months for that coin. He also knows lots of collectors and i assume he has a database or list of people he can sell it to immediately.

I don't have TV. However one of the first programs I created was for a warehouse chain to automatically calculate discount sales based on the standard 60% markup which is what all retail stores, including pawn shops go by. In other words when you buy a $60 shirt they don't buy it for $58, they Pay $24.00 wholesale. My program took the wholesale price automatically calculated the retail price, then tracked the inventory of sales, once reconciled would tell them what items were not selling, then they could punch in a percentage of discount they wanted, to sell stagnate inventory. Fun stuff.
